I’ve been self-employed for over 8 years now, and as such it means I don’t get to go to a work’s Christmas do…in fact, I don’t think I’ve ever been on a work’s Christmas do ever…I used to temp work before I had my son, then I was a stay at home mum for many years and then started my own business!
I always get a little jealous that hubs gets to go on a jolly at Christmas with his work colleagues!! But when I saw that Brit Mums were having a Christmas meet up in London I knew it would be the closest thing I’d get to a work do!
So yesterday morning I was on the tube going to Borough to meet up with lots of other bloggers and to celebrate Christmas with lots of sweet treats supplied by Morrisons. And what a spread of goodies it was. You know me, I take a LOT of photos…I probably did more photo taking than anything else! I did meet up with bloggers that I knew and have met before, and was able to talk to some new bloggers too – which is always lovely at events like this.
It’s easier that I let the photos tell the story…with a few comments along the way!
If you’re ever stuck on how to style a buffet table for Christmas, take some food styling tips from the fab spread that was put out…lots of rustic bakeware, candles and fruit featured throughout!
I have never made or constructed a gingerbread house…I hope to make one this Christmas!
I was able to bring home some of this boozy Christmas cake for hubs – it was soooo tasty!
This little gingerbread guy is the start of the Morrisons’ Christmas ad – have you seen it yet?
I squeezed in a slice of this lush chocolate cake…really rich and decadent – you’d only need a small slice!
Morrisons’ Executive Chief of Product Development – Neil Nugent was at the ‘do’ and was able to answer all our Christmas cooking questions and to give his tips and advice including “don’t use tin foil to cover the turkey – it creates steam leading to an over cooked turkey” and “use butter or lard to cook your potatoes – maris piper are the best to use for roasting” He told us how all the products for Morrisons Christmas range are signed off in April! I’m sure he’ll be started on next year’s range very soon!!
Dressing up food with fruit and nuts is the way to go this Christmas season!
We all left with a goodie bag with some Morrisons’ products inside and as there was so much food leftover, even grab a few tidbits to bring home ;) A lovely way to spend a few hours and I’m already looking forward to the next blogging event. Blogging might not be my day job, but I love every minute that I spend as a blogger…and I even got to go on a Christmas do this year – win/win!!
