The Cast Members - Halloween in the Wilderness

If you’ve read my previous Disney Trip Reports (2011, 2013, 2014) you will already “know” us, but for those that are new and reading for the first time, allow me to introduce…

The Cast Members!

Me – Michelle, 38 years old, but will be 39 by the time we go. I am addicted to planning our trips to Walt Disney World and Orlando, and for the foreseeable future, I can’t see us going on holiday anywhere else! It really is our happy place!

I am the planner, organizer, trip report writer, photographer, driver and spender of money!

Me and Winnie the Pooh

As a fat chick, you will always find tips and a ride size guide from my point of view. I am forever on a weight loss mission, but having visited Orlando at many sizes now, from a UK24 to a UK32, I’ve got it covered! I’m here to answer your questions if you’re worried about your size and having a holiday in Orlando. I receive lots of them on the forums I’m a member of, and always happy to help. Just leave me a message in the comments, or send me an email and I will help where I can! I will be writing a separate post: On The Plus Side with further tips if you are a plus size guest, like me!

In general, I find that the Disney theme parks are more generous with their rides compared with the other parks (Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, SeaWorld, Busch Gardens) but my advice is this:

  • Don’t be scared to try out test seats if there are any available.
  • Don’t be scared to ask a Cast Member if they think you’ll be able to ride – they see people of all shapes and sizes in their thousands, every day of the year… believe me, they KNOW!
  • Check out WDW at Large over on AllEars.net, the Everything Pooh Sized thread on the DIS Boards and Disney for the Larger Person on The Dibb, where you will find lots of people all in the same boat, worrying if they will fit on rides or not.

I love all the Disney theme parks, for different reasons, but if I had to go to just one, it would have to be Magic Kingdom every time! I could sit in front of Cinderella Castle and watch Dream Along With Mickey all day long!

My favourite Disney rides are Star Tours®, Splash Mountain® and Test Track® Presented by Chevrolet®, and I LOVE watching the show in Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room!

At the other theme parks, my favourite rides are The Simpsons Ride™ and TRANSFORMERS: The Ride-3D  at Universal Studios, and The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man® at Islands of Adventure. I also love Terminator 2®: 3-D at Universal Studios as it’s one of my all-time favourite films.

To be fair, there isn’t much I don’t love about Disney and Orlando! I like to give everything a chance – even the rides and attractions that people say are rubbish!

Meeting Pluto Donald and Mickey at Chef Mickeys

Him – Steve, 42 years old and the one that holds it all together! He is the responsible one, holder of important documents, videographer and pack horse!

Why packhorse? Because he carries our backpack with our theme park supplies! We don’t visit without things like sun cream, water and ponchos! All vital for a day at any Florida theme park.

Mexico Pavilion, Epcot World Showcase

He did used to have the job of “navigator” when our sat-nav would let us down, but we know the roads very well now, so don’t have to panic as much. He drove a little more on our last trip, but is quite happy to leave the driving to me! That’s A-OK, as I love driving in Orlando!

He has a list of foods he wants to try, and he has ticked most of them off! However, he is yet to try catfish, so we are going to find a restaurant that sells that so he can finally finish off his list!

He is a Star Wars nut and his favourite ride is of course, Star Tours® at Disney Hollywood Studios. But he also loves The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man® at Islands of Adventure.

Mexico Pavilion, Epcot World Showcase

The Boy – Liam, 16, my son and Steve’s step-son. Liam loves his holidays in Orlando and knows he’s a lucky lad to be go as many times as we’ve been able to in the last few years. He throws himself into it when it comes to meeting characters and having fun, which, as a mum, makes me very happy too! I’m so glad that I don’t have a grumpy teenager!

Pluto at 'Ohana Character Breakfast

He really enjoys going to water parks and spending time in the pool. On our last holiday he would often head to the resort pool on his own, needing, no doubt, to get away from us old folk!!! He’s not so adventurous when it comes to food, and sticks to burgers and steaks, however, he’s made a new years resolution to try a new food each month, so we might see some changes come October!

He loves meeting the characters, his favourites are Chip ‘n’ Dale. These guys are such a playful pair, even with the grown up kids! Like us, his favourite rides are  Star Tours® and The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man® (at Islands of Adventure.) He also loves the Roa’s Rapids® at Aquatica – in fact, we all LOVE being swept around that all day long!

Meeting Chip n DaleSo that’s us! Please to meet you!

I hope you join us on our 2015 trip report: Halloween In The Wilderness
