The month of October is pretty much dedicated to one of my favourite times of the year – Halloween! I call this time of year on The Purple Pumpkin Blog, Crafty October where I share crafts, recipes and ideas for Halloween. The first thing I shared was super easy – filling jars with Halloween decorations!
The best way to see all about October is to read the archives! I can’t possibly pick out my favourites from that month :P
I entered myself into the National Blog Awards 2014 and hope that if you love reading my blog that you take a moment to vote for me to get through to the next round!
My gorgeous niece Sephy turned one and we celebrated with a party. I blogged about that in November. My photo for her birthday was of her with her dad. I took a photo of her with daddy, just minutes old (I was there at her birth) and it gave me warm fuzzies to recapture a moment again.
I was also awarded a 2013 Top 20 UK Craft Blogger award from Tots 100 which I very graciously and proudly accepted!
It was lovely to meet Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall again at Taste of Christmas, and we got to see the 11th Doctor, Matt Smith and his companion, Jenna Coleman at the big 50th celebration in London.
I threw a belated, yet combined with Guy Fawkes Night, Halloween party and shared a few more recipes and ideas from that – October kinda rolled over there!
I went on a couple of blogging events including a visit to Google as part of #GoogleMums, as well as a BritMums Christmas Party in association with Morrisons. We also went to the BBC Good Food Show where we saw Michel Roux Junior in the food theatre.
There were giveaways on my blog, photography (as always), recipes, trip reporting and crafts. Read all of November’s Archives here. And of course I blogged about my Sephy’s 1st birthday party!
November also saw my 2nd Blogiversary!
And so, here we are, the final month of 2013 and where I really feel like I had burned out and lost the plot as far as my life and blogging was concerned, although, in fairness, if you read this blog you may not have even noticed. I put my heart and soul into my blogging and the things I do to make people around me happy, but in December I felt like my mojo was well and truly lost.
I turned the month over, again, to another annual series – Cook, Craft, Create: Christmas 2013, but I couldn’t mentally dedicate myself to it every single day, but I gave it a good go. One of my favourite things was the little winter birds I designed and shared as printables with you.
I feel so spent at the moment that I don’t have the energy now to even review the month. I seem to put a lot of pressure on myself to please others and feel that if I don’t do things, then I’m letting everyone down. But so, please do read through December’s Archives as looking back, I did share more than I thought I had. They will hopefully give you ideas for your next Christmas!
I really should have been writing this review of the year weeks ago so that I didn’t feel so rushed now, but I’m glad I’ve reviewed 2013 and seen all the things we have done, and the things that I have written about. For a lot of people I know, 2013 has been a crap year. I can’t say it’s been a particularly good year for me either with a lot of mental ups and downs as I’ve mentioned already, and a weight gain meaning I’m back where I started. I plan for 2014 to be the year of all things new, to step forward onto a new positive path and as such my posts may change on my blog, but that is something to think about in 2014.
I just want to say a huge THANK YOU for joining me throughout 2013 and reading my blog and I hope that you continue reading long into the new year and beyond.
