Review of the Year 2014 – July to September

Don't Forget to Share this Post!

As 2014 draws to a close, it’s time for my review of the year. A chance for me to look back on my blogging year, as I did in 2013 and 2012 and share the highlights with you, my lovely readers.

Review of the Year 2014 - July to September

Review of the Year 2014 – July

July was another busy month with over 100 posts! I wanted to try and focus on losing weight, which didn’t really happen, and the more I tried and failed, the more depressed I became. I started July with my photo of the day 182 – Chaos, sometimes the name of my daily photo can be very telling. Here are July’s Project 365:2014 Ideas and Tips.

July seems to be full of photos and Disney posts. Since we were staying at a Disney resort I made some Mousekeeping envelopes and shared a free printable too. I also shared photos that I took at Regents Park and our local park, Bedfords Country Park. There was another free day out in Essex post with us visiting The Chase Nature Reserve

I took part in a summer craft challenge with Country Baskets and made a wrist corsage for a wedding. I came second!  My husband took part in a food poverty challenge with Tesco and Trussell Trust Food Banks to highlight food poverty in the UK.

I wrote a post about what makes me happy as part of a campaign with Dorset Cereals; I think I need to go back and read that…

My son was picked to take part in the Goodyear Driving Academy which provides driving lessons for 11 to 17 year olds He got on brilliantly, and I think it’s a fab idea to teach driving safety from a young age.

With our Disney holiday inching closer and 100 Days of Disney still in full swing, I shared some trip report printables and some iPhone Disney wallpapers

It looks like I shared a couple of recipes this month too, one was for Faux Po Chicken

Review of the Year 2014 – August

August for us meant one thing – our annual family holiday to Walt Disney World!  But before that, I started the month with my photo of the day 213 – Generation Gap of my mum and my niece.  Here are all of August’s Project 365:2014 Ideas & Tips.

I didn’t want to leave my blog empty for half of August, so I invited some of my blogger friends to write guest posts for me in my absence.

August the 5th is our wedding anniversary and in 2014 we celebrated 5 years of marriage. I flashbacked to our wedding day with a diary of the day that I had written on a wedding forum back in 2009. It was nice to see how I felt back then! I also shared a wedding video that I had created and not shared online before. To celebrate, my husband and I went for afternoon tea in London. We also went on a River Thames Cruise and visited the Tower of London. I still haven’t blogged about that – but I will in the new year!

We went to watch Grease at a drive-in movie, which was a monumental failure on behalf of the organisers with lots of people complaining and leaving! I wrote my constructive review here on my blog.

Whilst spending the night at a Heathrow hotel, I wrote my review of a Mia Tui bag I had been sent and left my blog in the capable hands of my guest posters. And forever behind on things I want to write about on my blog, I ended it with the plan of our holiday after we came back!

Review of the Year 2014 – September

I’m pretty sure from September all the way through to now is when depression really started to punch me in the face, but somehow I just muddle through and try not to bring it to my blog too much. As always, there is a first photograph of the month with day 244 – Whisper; an old photo I had taken whilst on holiday – it was taking me a while to get back into the swing of P365 again. Here are all of September’s Project 365:2014 Ideas and Tips.

After the inevitable post-holiday weight gain, I once again resolved to lose weight (and failed, again) and then decided to have a change and got my hair cut short[er]. I also wanted to colour my hair purple, but the hair dye didn’t take on!

I made a start on my Dine Around Disney 2014 Trip Report with Day 0 and the pre-travel day at the hotel the night before. Full of gusto I also wrote Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4 and Day 5 in September.

I set up a blogger weight loss support linky and Facebook group, which didn’t take off as much as I had hoped it would, but by now I was in such a bad place, I’m not surprised. I couldn’t deal with it and after a few weeks I ended up folding the project.  I also started the Fungi Friday linky for bloggers and for Instagrammers, which is a rather sporadic project, but a fun one nonetheless!

I wrote a post detailing what I hoped to write about during the autumn/winter season, I’ll have to read it back and see if I was successful!

My son started Year 11 and his GCSE year – it is hard to believe that my little boy has grown up so much!

I was lucky to receive a stay in a caravan down in Romney Sands, Kent for the weekend, so along with my sister and her family, we enjoyed a fab weekend in late September.

Romney Sands Weekend Break (133)

Doing my best to keep myself in some sort of happy place and after visiting Kent with my family I decided that I wanted to visit all of England’s counties and we then started taking ourselves off for drives at the weekend to try and make the most of our days rather than wasting them sitting at home which was a bad habit we’d gotten into.

Looking back at September I wrote a lot of great things that I want to read back on – especially my trip reports and some of my feelings about weight loss. It’s quite cathartic to blog!

And that’s the third quarter of Review of the Year 2014 done. I have enjoyed looking back at my blog from July to September, and there are several posts that I want to go back and read properly. I use The Purple Pumpkin Blog as both a diary of our lives and a place for me to share my ideas with you. It’s lovely to look back at and be reminded of the things that we did.

The other parts of this review of the year…
