Project 365 - 2017 - Day 1: Silhouette of tree branches against a New Years Day sky

Happy New Year!

Looks like I am back to Project 365 for 2017! I knew I would regret it if I didn’t do it, so it’s a photo a day for another year! Plus, I really want to improve my photography skills, and the best way to do that, in my experience, is through a project like this. I bought my Canon EOS 70D nearly a year ago now, and it’s not the usage out of it that it should have done. This has been down to, in the main part I think, not doing Project 365 in 2016. I also wasn’t myself in 2016, and sunk to lows I didn’t think was possible.

I’m grabbing 2017 by the horns, and running with it, because I really want to improve my life – only I have the power to do it, and I’m starting TODAY.

The title of this photo Déjà Vu is not so deep an meaningful – I generally seem to take a photo of a tree silhouette at the very start of the year (day 4/2011, day 15/2012, day 1/2013, day 3/2014, day 5/2015, week 3/2016) because they are an easy thing to take a photo of, and I love seeing the bare branches, twisted and tangled against the backdrop of the sky.

This is my 6th year of Project 365, so I really want to come up with new photo ideas, and I hope that it is going to get me out of the house a bit more and improve my quality of life.

Are you starting Project 365 in 2017, or continuing from the previous year?

I’ve been taking part in Project 365 – a photo a day for one year, since 2011. I took a break in 2016, but couldn’t leave the photography project behind completely, and so did Project 52 – a photo a week for one year. I decided at the very last moment, that I would come back to Project 365 for 2017, because I have missed it more than I realised! The project, over the years, has not only helped to improve my photography, but it also became an daily photo diary. I love looking back and remembering the days of the year(s) gone by, and that is one of the biggest things I missed at the end of 2016,

I have quite the archive of photos on my blog, which you can take a peek at below.
