…continued from part 4…

We said goodbye to Romney Sands Park Resorts, and drove towards Dymchurch and parked in a nearby pay and display car park just a short walk from the seafront. This town was a bit more seaside, with a fish ‘n’ chip shop, some arcades, and other gift shops. Not as garish as somewhere like Southend, but a lot more than was at Romney Sands. Not that that was a bad thing, loved how peaceful it was over there!

By the afternoon, the sun had made an appearance, so that meant that hats and coats could come off, and even shoes and socks!

As my mum had remembered, the beach was gorgeous, and a bit more accessible than Romney Sands – here there were steps down onto the beach, and those steps were somewhere for you to sit as well!

Jo took Liam over to the arcades for a while, and the rest of us stayed on the beach building sandcastles. There was a big pool of water, I assume left over from the tide, which children were splashing in, and which Sephy eventually braved, at first holding daddy’s hand, and then, quite happily on her own!

It’s been so long since Liam was Sephy’s age (she’s nearly 2) that you forget the simple things that keep toddlers so happy! I just loved watching her thought processes as she played in the sand, and told us what she was doing. I have to admit, since she was born, I’ve been super broody! But I love being an aunty ♥

As well as building sandcastles, she had fun destroying them too!

Eventually though, some black clouds rolled over, and we made the executive decision to go home. Liam, Steve and I said our goodbyes to Sephy, Jo and Phil, all agreeing we’d had a really great weekend – it was nice to just get down to the coast and not have a care in the world. We were blessed with some good weather too which made everything so much nicer!

Sephy probably won’t remember this weekend with us, but this series of blog posts about our little holiday will serve as a memory for her! My sister said she didn’t stop talking about it once they got home, and that makes me smile even more! I do hope we can do this again very soon ♥
