You may recall a post I wrote last year as part of a Festive Face-Off Challenge set by Country Baskets – I made a pretty Vintage Christmas Wreath.

Well, I was contacted by them again to ask if I’d like to take part in their latest blogger challenge – Accessorize Yourself, where I would have to make an accessory that I would wear to a wedding. I’m always up for a challenge, so gladly accepted!

These are the items I was sent…

  • roll of pink/purple organza
  • a bouquet of faux flowers – roses & orchids
  • lace ribbon
  • wired crystals
  • diamantes on a long strand
  • a roll of heart ribbon
  • wedding place cards

…I was allowed to use my own supplies, which ended up being some pop clasps and a needle and thread.

And what did I decide to make? Well, after much deliberation, I made a wrist corsage, which I thought was something a little bit different. To make my accessory, I used the organza, faux flowers, lace ribbon, heart ribbon and the wired crystals. (Entries must use 5 items from the supplies sent.)

The easiest way to tell you how to make this wrist corsage, is to show you! So I made a video tutorial which you can view on my YouTube channel (don’t forget to subscribe!)

Unfortunately, I had some technical difficulties, in that one of my video files became corrupted, and so, I had to cut that complete from the final edit – boooo – but I recorded me talking about the final steps, which actually was just me sewing the bits together. I’m also aware in the title I misspelled accessorize, but by that point I was so annoyed with the video corruption, that I didn’t have it in me to go back and sort it out… I hope you forgive me!

I really loved how my wrist corsage turned out, and it could easily be switched up to make a hair accessory by attaching it to a clip or head band; equally, it would also be a fab lapel corsage – just the perfect DIY wedding craft for the mothers of the bride and groom!

Here are some more photographs of my finished wrist corsage, I hope you like it as much as I do!

Looks like I was a runner up in this blogger comp! So close! No prizes for coming second or third :P

Disclosure: I was sent craft materials from Country Baskets to make a wedding accessory. This post is my entry into the Accessorize Yourself Challenge.
