The latest book I’ve received from Parragon Books is Make, Bake, Cookies,  a delightful compendium of all the cookie recipes you could wish for!

The book has a real fun design – you can see in the photo below of the front of the book, the cookies sticking out – they’re bookmarks for each chapter!  There are five chapters in all –

  • Cookie Jar Favourites
  • Soft & Chewy
  • Crisp & Crumbly
  • Fun & Frosted
  • Something A Bit Special

The book has handy guides at the beginning, covering the basics, ingredients, equipment and storage. There is also an icing masterclass and secrets for success.

Each chapter page starts with a lovely glossy finish to it, and the thickness of the paper on these pages is more like thin card rather than paper, meaning it holds up well to turning to the chapter you desire.

Each page has enticing images of the cookie recipe on the opposite page. Some pages have a selection of numbered steps to guide you, and some have got top tips. I love that the photography is not overstyled, and really focuses on the cookie in hand (no pun intended!!)

The recipes include…Gingernuts, Shortbread, Apple & Oat Cookies, Pumpkin Pie Cookies, Chocolate & Almond Biscotti, Margarita Cookies,  Lollipop Swirl Cookies, Tutti Fruitti Whoopie Pies, Marshmallow Cookie Sandwiches and Rainbow Slice Cookies – a great selection, and there really is something for everyone!
