Live Entertainment at Epcot World Showcase

It’s no secret that I love Epcot World Showcase. I love walking around the different pavilions, representing 11 different countries: Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, USA, Japan, Morocco, France, UK, and Canada. Each pavilion is themed beautifully, and you can almost feel like you’re transported there, and I love that all of the Cast Members who work in each pavilion, come from that particular country. Some of the pavilions are bigger than others, some have rides, some have restaurants you can dine in, some have snack kiosks or counter service restaurants, and some also have live entertainment; which is what I’ll be covering in this post today.

I know that some live entertainment favourites have now gone from Epcot, and I’m gutted now, that we didn’t take the time out to watch them… Now, from experience, I’m going to make sure that in future visits, we take the time to do so. Epcot World Showcase is a lovely part of Walt Disney World to have a bit of a down day, just wandering around and soaking up the atmosphere.

All of Disney’s theme parks has a times guide, which you can pick up alongside a park map – this gives you the showtimes, which are often several times a day, and allow you to plan accordingly. You can also check before you go, but looking at the Disney website here, which is where you’ll also find the most up to date information. I haven’t included meeting the characters in this list.

Going through the most recent list of live entertainment at Epcot World Showcase, I realise that we haven’t seen that many (will have to rectify that on our next visit!), and so, my photographs are minimal on this post. I have included a couple of very short videos of some of the acts we have seen, as well, of course, photographs.

IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth

Behold the past, present and future of Earth at this stunning fireworks show that celebrates the spirit of humanity. Gather around the World Showcase Lagoon to witness the incredible history of our planet. Part One: The Earth Is Born. Part Two: The Triumph of Life. Part Three: Hope for the Future. View the show anywhere throughout Epcot that offers a clear view of the World Showcase Lagoon. Since this is an outdoor show, it is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.

I’ve described IllumiNations in the past as amazing, awesome, and truly a sight for the eyes and ears! I find myself just getting lost when watching IllumiNations! Read more here.

This vibrant acrobatic troupe from China performs breathtaking feats of strength, agility and balance.

Mariachi Cobre

This spirited mariachi band performs the traditional folk music of Jalisco, Mexico, throughout the Mexico Pavilion.

Location: Japan Pavilion
Duration: 15 minutes

Feel the thunder of Taiko—a time-honored form of drumming—as this percussive troupe performs with synchronized movements.

We saw Matsuriza in 2013, and they were wonderful to watch. Just when we thought their set was finished, they suddenly rolled out this bad boy – I’ve never seen such a big drum in all my life! If you love the sound of drums, you will love Matsuriza. Make sure you check out the short video below to hear their sound!

Voices of Liberty

Location: The American Adventure
Duration: 15 minutes

Gather ‘round this outstanding a capella group as they bring patriotic music to life beneath an acoustically perfect dome. Costumed in finery from the 1800s, Voices of Liberty is an exceptionally talented choir of a capella singers that performs in the pavilion rotunda throughout the day. This beloved 8-member group stirs hearts and lifts emotions with each performance—while the rotunda’s acoustically perfect dome amplifies and purifies the sound. You won’t believe your ears!

We watched this group perform in 2013, and their voices were, I think, out of this world. I loved listening to the American folk songs that they sung, and loved how they were all in period costume too. I’ve added a very short video (can’t seem to find anything longer – must be on a memory card somewhere!)
