I have been wanting to see Lionel Richie live in concert for YEARS. When he toured the UK last time, the tickets sold out and I was gutted. So when I saw he was coming to the O2, London in 2015 I snapped up a pair of tickets as soon as they went on sale! I grew up listening to Lionel Richie and The Commodores, and fondly remember hits like Easy, Three Times A Lady, Endless Love (with Diana Ross) and Dancing On The Ceiling.
The promise of All The Hits, All Night Long was completely delivered, and Lionel Richie was a fantastic showman as well, of course, an amazing singer. I loved how he was so personable with the audience, and he was very funny too in the moments that he took spending time talking to the crowd. He’s got a long career, with a great back catalogue, and he recognises that he has fans that have been with him for both the longest time and the shortest time! All I know, is if I need a love song, I turn to Lionel!
Here is a playlist of the videos that my husband took whilst we were there – some are shaky, but the sound quality is great, and I’ve sat and listened through these several times since the concert on the 1st March – it brings back all the memories of a fantastic night out.
I always take photographs when I go to concerts, I love looking back on them and remembering the night! We were quite far back for this gig though, so they’re not the best!!
It’s been a long time since we’ve been to a concert, I think the last one was Michael Buble way back in 2013! I never did write about that, even though I had planned to… story of my blogging life! So many things to write about and share, and always running out of time.
I’m so glad I finally saw Lionel Richie in concert – he was worth the wait! Dancing On The Ceiling was epic – I loved the staging and the lights, and seeing the crowd jumping, and I also loved how Lionel commanded the audience – when he said “lights” everyone held up their phones and the arena looked magical! I felt like I couldn’t let him down, so my phone went up in my hand too! If he comes back to the UK in the future, I will definitely try and buy tickets to see him again!
