Happy New Year!
Home » HOLIDAYS » CHRISTMAS »Now that 2012 is here and the holiday season is well and truly over, it’s time for me to catch up and blog about all the things that I did over Christmas/New Years.
I’ve got a lot to blog about, ideally I would have blogged as I made things, but time was against me, so I’m having to do it after the event, but here’s what’s to come…
I marzipanned and royal iced my Christmas cake which I made weeks ago and can be found in this blog post.
I made cinder toffee (honeycomb toffee) and gave it out as homemade gifts…
I bought tiny gingerbread man sprinkles to use on my gingerbread cupcakes…
We had a friend round for a Christmas Eve, Eve get together and I put together a cheat’s party.
I replicated the delicious creamed kale crostini that my husband and I tried at The Taste of Christmas, made by Hugh Fearnly-Whittingstall of River Cottage.
I bought some fresh cranberries at the supermarket with a view to do *something* with them…I then saw a recipe for Pear and Cranberry Chutney, which I made…
I decided to dunk some pretzels in melted chocolate and give them out as gifts too…
I finally bagged up my jars of Snowman Soup…
We had Christmas Eve Dinner Party (lunch!) with my husband’s parents, with me cooking a complete vegetarian meal.
For Christmas Day I had pre-made Jamie Oliver’s get-ahead gravy and of course, a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings. I made Nigella’s Chestnut Chocolate Pots for dessert.
In the evening I whipped up a batch of Mince Pie Pinwheels, using just 2, store bought ingredients – sweet mincemeat and puff pastry! So easy!
With all the leftover turkey I made Jamie Oliver’s Leftover Turkey & Sweet Leek Pie…
I made my final batch of cupcakes of 2011 – Mint Choc Chip Cupcakes…
And finally another cheat’s buffet for New Years Eve…unfortunately my kitchen is about to be re-modelled so the backdrop wasn’t the most elegant >_>
Phew! I get tired looking at everything I did this season and have got close to 20 blog posts now to write! Be sure to subscribe so that you don’t miss any!
