Restaurants, ADRS and Take Outs!

Let’s face it, a lot of us look forward to the food when going on holibobs! ^_^ Since most of our spending money goes on eating out whilst on holiday (I’m sure we’re not alone in that one!) we have planned [roughly] where we want to eat out when we go back to the magic!

First time to Florida meant going in ‘blind’ gauging where we went on reviews we read online…this time, we’ll be able to go back to our favourite places, ignore the ones that weren’t so great, and try out new places and formulate our own views and opinions about them!

So here is the run down of where we would like to eat out this summer in Orlando – as well as the Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs) we have booked.

We have got an ADR for our first full day in Orlando. Last time we visited Magic Kingdom last, this time, we’re going there first! Our reservation is for lunch at Crystal Palace, which also happens to be character dining with Winnie the Pooh and Friends (that didn’t have an effect on my choice at all! ). We actually had Crystal Palace booked for our first visit in 2011, however, we cancelled it whilst out in America. When the rain came pouring down just at the time we should have been in there, we kinda regretted that decision!

An ADR has been arranged for the character breakfast at Animal Kingdom’s Tusker House. We LOVED it last time, and knew we would be going back there. The characters were fun and the food was plentiful and lush!

Having heard good things about ‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Resort and wanting to try and see some of the resorts when we go back, we have a dinner ADR booked here. Whilst it’s not character dining, whenever I hear the word ‘ohana’ I immediately think of these guys…one of my fave Disney films – Lilo & Stitch! The food is polynesian with the appetizers served family style and the entrees from skewers – awesome!

Last time we went to Epcot our visit to World Showcase was rained off and we didn’t really see any of it…nor did we manage to get back there during that trip, so this time around we are making it a priority as both hubs and I were really looking forward to seeing all the different “countries”. Steve really wants to eat his way around World Showcase…but we have booked an ADR for Biergarten – a German Oktoberfest type place. We went to Teppan Edo last time around, and it was wonderful. We did debate about going back, but decided to try something new instead.

We weren’t able to get in at House of Blues for their Gospel Brunch in 2011, and I was gutted! We have this year though – woohoo! Brunch is like, so the best meal of the day! And some gospel music thrown in? Oh yes! Hope it lives up to our expectations!

We did mean to go to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. last time. We didn’t. We will this time!

Hubs and son want to go to Hard Rock Cafe. Who am I to argue?!

Our favourite restaurant in 2011 was Bahama Breeze – we visited not 1, not 2, but 3 times! It was very close to us, the service was good and the food, excellent. I just hope the firecracker shrimp are still on the menu, because they were deeee-lish!

I was most impressed with the boy when we visited Red Lobster on our first visit, he’s a fussy eater but tried lobster and loved it – he’s asked if we can go back to Red Lobster and so, yes, of course we are. Again, we had great service here and good food – it’s what matters!

We plan to go back to Sonny’s Real Pit BBQ out in Clermont. The portions were HUGE, (just look at the size of the glass of drink! ) the prices cheap and we love American BBQ in this household!

We’d also like to be able to go to the following places:

Manny’s Chop House – hear nothing but great things about it!

Longhorn Steakhouse – or just any good steakhouse!

Chilis – for some tex-mex!

Sweet Tomatoes – because no doubt we’ll want a day off from food and want something a little healthier!

Denny’s – for breakfast, because we forgot to go there last time!

Boma – Flavors of Africa – an ADR still needs to be booked for this restaurant at Animal Kingdom Lodge, hear great things about this place too!

Bamboo Wok – Chinese take out at Berry Town Centre…they serve Chinese in those cardboard containers we see in the movies – yes!

All these places won’t cover the whole time we are there – we plan to eat at the villa sometimes, and of course, keep looking for other recommendations to try out!
