As the summer is officially coming to an end, you might be thinking that there’ll be limited options for family days out – especially of the outdoors-y variety. Well, you’d be wrong! There’s still so many experiences you can enjoy all across the UK, that are fully enjoyable at any time of the year – be it rain, shine or snow! Here’s a few of our favourite family days out, guaranteed to win a smile, even on the glummest, or coldest of autumnal days!
First up is Knowsley Safari Park, Liverpool – Knowsley Safari is as close as you can get to an authentic safari experience in the North of England. This place is famous for its ‘Baboon Bus’ tour; a 33 seater minibus drives you right around the safari park so you can be in the thick of all the monkey action. Plus, it’s a relief not to have your own car crawled over sometimes! It’s a crowd pleaser – try not to enjoy it, I dare you!
Sea Life Centres can be found up and down the UK. Simply visit their website, enter your location, and book your tickets on the spot. You’ll be mere moments away from a mind-blowing, underwater adventure. It’s a great time to book, too, with up to 40% discount on online bookings. The Manchester Sea Life Centre is lucky enough to host Europe’s first Sea Bed Walk experience, where you can dive beneath the waves, meeting their resident Giant Green Sea Turtle, ‘Ernie’, as well as sharks, rays and hundreds of fish. If you’re nearby Manchester, then we highly recommend checking this out. If not, well you could make it a weekend trip and see what other refreshing things Manchester has to offer!
Enjoy ice skating all year round at Alexandra Palace. This is one of London’s most iconic landmarks and the ice rink is the perfect location for a day out with family or friends. Professional ice skating lessons are available, so don’t fret if you’re not the most graceful glider on the ice! To find out more, check out their things to do page for loads of other events and activities.
You must head over to brand, spanking, new Surf Snowdonia – the hub of all outdoor, water-based activities you could imagine. Primarily built for surfers, whom don’t always have the best of luck with great waves in Wales, the guys behind this business venture have created a powerful, two metre wave that ‘peels’ for more than 150 metres. It’s the world’s first inland surf lagoon, introducing revolutionary ‘Wavegarden’ technology. It’s a must-see; even if you choose to sit it out, you can enjoy all the surf-action without getting wet behind their 50-metre glass-fronted viewing gallery.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach is an award winning UK attraction, hosting some of the most exciting rides, attractions and shows – 125 rides and attractions in total! After checking out Blackpool’s favourite roller coaster, you can head to the beach for a spot of sand-castle making and some delicious fish and chips. There’s lots of discounted offers running all year long so be sure to double check on deals and discounts before you go.
