Wow, the last day of the year, and I can finally close the door on 2017.
As a family, 2017 has not been kind to us AT ALL. It has been bittersweet, as there have been good things, but mostly, I know all of us look back of it and can tell it to do one. Now I know tomorrow is just another day, same crap kinda deal; but there is something about a fresh new year that brings about hope. And I am hoping that 2018 will be a lot better for my family than 2017 was.
My word for 2018 is CHANGE because I am sick and tired of doing the same crap day in, day out – there is a saying that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. That has got to be one of the best ways to describe how I’ve felt about myself for the past, at least, 2-3 years.
I am grabbing 2018 by the horns and I’m all set for CHANGE. In my personal life, my family life, my home, and my blog. I’ve spent so many years worrying about, caring for, stressing over other people that I forgot about myself. I forgot to look after ME. And so, I became a shadow of myself – purely existing, and not living.
That is going to CHANGE. Every time I go to do something that is the same old, same old, I’m going to question myself and change things up. I don’t want another year of my life to slide by me wishing I had done x, y, and z. I want to do all 26 letters of the alphabet dammit!!
As far as Project 365 goes, I will be stepping away from it in 2018. Yes I love taking photographs, editing them, sharing them… but I think I am done with it for now. Even though it is my project, it sometimes feels like pressure to make sure that there are photos to put on my blog, on social media etc., and I don’t need that in my life in 2018. I don’t want to feel like I must take a photo every day/week/month. I know that these posts are some of the least read on my blog, so they won’t be missed. And on Instagram, where I also share them, they barely get any love. I know I take good, sometimes even amazing photographs, so I just don’t need that validation that someone else thinks so any more.
December has been dominated by Disney and Walt Disney World, since we went on holiday, back home to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for 2 weeks just before Christmas – it was so busy, but it was great to get away!
Anyway, I think I’ve rambled enough here, I want to get my annual review of the year written up (if I can – it’s nearly 2.30 in the afternoon and we’ve got people over to celebrate New Years Eve tonight), so here are my favourite three photos from December:
