Day 4 of Four Resorts, Two Festivals 2019, the latest of my Disney Trip Reports, is here! Today we popped over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to see the new (ish at the time!) Toy Story Land!

The Four Resorts, Two Festivals 2019 Trip Report Index tells you a bit about the planning of this trip, as well as some info about us – me, Michelle; and my husband, Steve. It also, of course, has the full list of days for the trip.

As I start writing day four of my 2019 Walt Disney World Trip Report we are still in the midst of a worldwide pandemic, and are wondering when we will be able to visit again… While the parks are going to be reopening soon, things are going to be very different for a while yet, and I just hope that one day we’ll be able to return to our happy place.

This vacation seems like so long ago, and with us potentially not being able to visit again until 2021 or even 2022 feels like so far away! We had planned a road trip to California/Nevada/Arizona for September 2020, with a few days being spent at Disneyland, but we have cancelled said trip for our own safety. If you know me well, you know I live for our vacations and not being able to go has made me so sad! I know there are worse things in the world, but for me, Disney is a place that takes me away from all my anxieties and stresses…

But hey ho, back to today’s report, which saw us driving over to Hollywood Studios at around 10 am. I love driving in Orlando, it feels so much easier than over here in the UK!

We had a FastPass+ for Toy Story Mania (our one for Slinky Dog Dash was later in the trip) and wanted to take a look at the new (at the time) Toy Story Land.

Hollywood Studios has gone through a ton of changes in the [nearly a] decade since our very first Orlando vacation and some major changes too with the two new additional areas – the aforementioned Toy Story Land, and Galaxy’s Edge – which wasn’t yet open when we visited. Plus the addition of the Skyliner – which was in the testing phase when we were there.

After going through security the first thing I did was check out the merch that is for sale at kiosks outside the entrance. There were a ton of new Ears this trip and because we were on a tighter than usual budget I had to be quite selective with my purchases!

I‘m addicted to collect Disney Ears and buy several on each trip – I already had my Purple Potion Ears and needed more time to decide on which ones to buy next! It was a toss-up between Slinky Dog and the UP ears!

Star Wars Stage - Hollywood Studios

As we made our way up Hollywood Boulevard, we could see people gathering in front of the Star Wars Stage, which is a temporary stage in front of the Chinese Theatre. Figuring something was probably going to occur we joined the crowd and waited.

It ended up being the “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away” stage show, which has now ended (in Jan 2020), and apparently won’t be relocated to Galaxy’s Edge which is a shame as it was pretty cool to watch and awesome for Star Wars fans as it featured clips from 7 of the movies as well as a whole cast of characters.

With scenes from the various movies played on the giant screens, as well as a whole cast of characters live on stage. Not to mention smoke and pyrotechnics too.

The show started out with C-3PO and R2-D2 and then continued with Darth Maul, Chewbacca, Boba Fett, Stormtroopers, Darth Vader, Captain Phasma, Kylo Ren, Stormtrooper with black armour (not sure what these ones are called!), Rey, and BB-8.

We did end up watching this a couple of times during the day as it was repeated every couple hours I think, but I’ll save the second batch of photos from later in this report.
