Day 3 of Our First Disney Cruise 2021! Disney Magic At Sea, the latest of my Disney Trip Reports, is here! Today we watch a movie, watch a theatre show, and watch a dinner show at Rapunzel’s Royal Table!

The Index of Our First Disney Cruise 2021! Disney Magic At Sea (UK Staycation) tells you a bit about the planning of this trip, as well as some info about us – me, Michelle; and my husband, Steve. It also, of course, has the full list of days for the trip.

Day 3: Disney Dreams: An Enchanted Classic

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Dinner at Rapunzel’s Royal Table

September 16, 2021

One of the nice things about cruising (to nowhere!) is not having to worry about getting up early, or rushing around, and we found it to be a nice relaxing pace for us.

To that end, we had a bit of a lie-in (I didn’t sleep well again) before venturing out late morning to go and watch Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – the newest Marvel movie, and one we’ve been looking forward to watching!

Yes, there is a cinema onboard! The Buena Vista Theatre showcases the newest releases (often before they’re available on land) and Disney Classics.

The movies are shown several times throughout the day, so you can catch a movie or two on your cruise.

You can find the movie showtimes on the Navigator App, or on the board located near the theatre. The one shown below is from another day. (it changes daily).

In “normal times” there is a concession stand nearby where you can buy cinema snacks like popcorn and candy, but during the pandemic, masks have to be worn inside, including the theatres, which means no eating or drinking during the shows.

We haven’t seen a film in cinemas in who knows how long, so it was actually a real treat to watch Shang-Chi.

A shame we couldn’t have popcorn, but it is what it is, and it wasn’t that big an issue to wear a mask throughout the movie.

I thought it was absolutely brilliant, full of action, humor, and a new hero was born. Well worth a watch if you’re a Marvel fan and haven’t seen it yet.

After (or maybe before?) the movie, we attended an animation class in the Promenade Lounge on Deck 3, Aft.

Today’s character was Donald Duck, and it was really popular! I think we managed to grab the last seat, which was not in the best position as we could barely see the crew member’s whiteboard showing how to draw Donald. Nor could we see any of the televisions that it is screened onto either.

So we had to wing it a bit (no pun intended!) and I’ll let you be the judge as to how our drawings of Donald Duck turned out!

After spending a couple of hours in the dark watching a movie, we headed up to Deck 9 to grab some lunch and just hang out for the afternoon.

I’m not sure how far the ship had sailed overnight, but we were in the sunshine and that’s all that mattered!

There are several different eating options on Deck 9, which is the deck where all of the swimming pools are.

I think we tried something from each of them (Duck-In Diner, Pinocchio’s Pizzeria, and Daisy’s De-Lites) during our cruise, and for quick-service food, it was all pretty good!

From Daisy’s De-Lites, we got a panini, some wraps, and a bowl of noodles, and because we’re on holiday, we also got a hot dog and chicken tenders and fries from Duck-In Diner.

The noodles were the ‘Chef Special’ of the day, from Daisy’s De-Lites, which also sells a selection of different sandwiches and fruit – one might say, healthier options.

Today brought a new drink of the day, and of course, I had to try it out. It was so good, and my favorite combination of flavors – tropical!

You can buy the drink of the day (non-alcoholic and alcoholic versions available) from Frozone Treats in the family pool area, as well as from Signals Bar in the adults-only area. You can also buy them at the various bars around the ship too.

Oh, and we also had our first ice cream cone! Can’t believe it took till day 3 to grab one from Eye Scream!

Ordinarily, it is self-service, but during the pandemic, crew members serve you. Standard flavors like chocolate and vanilla seemed to always be available, but there were other flavors too like coconut and kiwi.
