Day 10: A Star Wars Kinda Day / H&H@TP 2017
Home » Travel » Day 10: A Star Wars Kinda Day / H&H@TP 2017 »The March of the First Order is a procession of Stormtroopers, led out by Captain Phasma up Hollywood Boulevard. However, whether this will continue once Galaxy’s Edge opens I do not know…
We also met Star-Lord and Baby Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy. Baby Groot was too cute for words! He moves and speaks too!
By late afternoon, we were feeling a bit peckish, so stopped for a corn dog, and then went to see the areas that were boarded up for the (now open) Toy Story Land (which we have since visited) and (the soon to be open) Galaxy’s Edge.
We then began to make our way to the exit, stopping in the shops along the way, buying some merch obvs, and then driving back to Poly.
Oh, and whilst I was going through the photos, I remembered something else about this day – there was a hard-ticket Star Wars event going on in the evening, called Star Wars Galactic Nights. There were tickets still available, and we did debate about buying tickets and staying for the rest of the evening, but, we just couldn’t justify the cost. If I recall correctly, it was only some extra Star Wars character meet and greets, and some themed food, and not a whole lot else… so in the end we passed.
As we parked up at Poly, we caught a gorgeous sunset, and had a bit of a chill out before catching the Monorail over to Magic Kingdom. The plan was to finally watch Happily Ever After in front of Cinderella Castle, as we hadn’t viewed it from there as yet.
However, the park was super, super crowded, and we could barely move. We heard rumour that the park was at capacity, and I could well believe it. We got off Main Street USA and walked round the park for a while, before deciding that it was just too much. A park heaving with people is not pleasant, and we went back down Main Street through the shops to try and avoid some of the crowds – but even that was a nightmare. If any moment put me off going to Walt Disney World around the Holidays – tonight was it.
It wasn’t all lost, I got some photos from around the park at night, as it’s something I don’t actually have many of!
Once back at Polynesian, we ended up watching the fireworks from the beach (no photos this time as I just wanted to watch and not shoot pictures), and resolved to view them inside the park on a future trip.
It was now late evening, but we were hungry, and ended up ordering room service. I think by now we must have exhausted most of the options from Captain Cook’s and fancied something different. (Although Liam did get himself some dinner from there earlier in the evening.)

No photo of the cocktail I’m afraid, but it arrived ice-cold, in a tiki glass and was delicious! The food was very good, and we enjoyed everything – even though room service is expensive, as they put an automatic 18% gratuity and a delivery charge as well, and the person who brings your food expects a tip as well… but when you are on holiday, sometimes rationale goes out the window!
