We ended up driving back to our home resort – Disney’s Polynesian Village – to drop off the gingerbread treats we had bought earlier, and also to drop off Liam. We had decided to pop to Walmart before going to Hollywood Studios as we needed some supplies, and he didn’t want to come with us.

We visited the new (at the time) Walmart at the bottom end of the 192, and had a mooch around in there, bought what we needed, headed back to Poly to get Liam, and then back out again to Hollywood Studios!

The Christmas tree and decorations at Hollywood Studios were pretty cool! I loved the garlands hanging across the street, and even Gertie the Dinosaur that sits in Echo Lake was decked out for the holidays!

I titled today’s report A Star Wars Kinda Day because that is what we mostly did while at Hollywood Studios! We went on Star Tours, met Chewbacca, BB-8, and saw the March of the First Order. We also saw the models for the (soon to be opening at the time of writing this!) Galaxy’s Edge.

Star Wars Launch Bay is located in the Animation Courtyard. I’m not sure if this is just a temporary thing until Galaxy’s Edge opens, but it is described as an immersive exhibits of costumes, models, concept artwork and actual movie props—as well as authentic replicas created just for Star Wars Launch Bay.

It is where we met Chewbacca, and BB-8. You could also meet Kylo Ren, but we didn’t meet him, mainly because we had lined up for so long for the other two characters!

While lining up to meet the characters there are some Star Wars props for you to look at, which is pretty cool, and the area does all feel very immersive! We can’t wait to be able to visit Galaxy’s Edge when it opens!

YODA LIGHTSABER – Grand Master Yoda’s lightsaber was shorter than a normal lightsaber to match his small stature. He constructed it as an apprentice the instruction of ancient droid Huyang and used it to perfect all styles of lightsaber combat. After the Clone Wars, Yoda came to realize that to best be a Jedi was to put aside the blade, for a Jedi should use the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack.

LUKE SKYWALKER LIGHTSABER – After having lost his father’s lightsaber in a duel at Cloud City, Luke modeled his new weapon on Obi-Wan Kenobi’s lightsaber, but simplified some of the design elements. He hid his weapon inside the body of R2-D2 during his daring rescue of his friends from Jabba the Hutt’s clutches, and used his lightsaber to battle his way past the crime lord’s henchmen.

OBI-WAN KENOBI LIGHTSABER – Obi-Wan Kenobi’s third lightsaber was constructed during the Clone Wars, following his promotion to Jedi Master. He wielded it for the rest of his life until his final duel with Darth Vader. In contrast to the simple weapon design of his original lightsaber, this weapon featured a much more skeletal make.
MACE WINDU LIGHTSABER - Mace Windu's Lightsaber was unique among the Jedi as it produced a violet blade when activated. As a youngling, when Mace first bonded with his kyber crystal, it produced a unique purple glow, which was uncommon among the Jedi ranks. He used it to create his electrum lightsaber.
