To celebrate the launch of their new Inspirations range, Birds Eye have created the world’s first pay-by-picture restaurant – The Picture House. To settle your bill at the end of your meal, all you have to do is take a photograph of it and share on Instagram tagging it with #BirdsEyeInspirations!
I was lucky enough to be at the launch this afternoon with some lovely ladies from Brit Mums, where we got to do some of the things that us bloggers love to do – try things out, take photos of them and share on social media!
The Picture House is a pop-up restaurant in London’s Soho and opens on 14th May. If you’re unable to get to London, don’t worry about missing out as there are other ways that you can try Birds Eye Inspirations for free, both online and in store.
With the menu presented on an iPad (very 21st century!) we could choose from either chicken, fish or the vegetarian option of Birds Eye Rice Fusions.
I thought all three options sounded yummy, but I decided to try the Chicken Inspirations with Garlic and Herb Sauce. It was served on a pea purée which had the faintest hint of mint, along with some crisp asparagus and red peppers. The breadcrumb had a lovely crunch, the chicken was succulent and there was just the right amount of creamy sauce inside – delicious!
There are four Chicken Inspirations flavour combinations – Irresistible Garlic & Herb, Sizzling Peri Peri, Creamy Cheese & Ham and Tangy Tomato & Basil. I’m looking forward to trying out the peri peri chicken – I like a bit of spice on my food!
The fish option was chargrilled with sunblushed tomatoes, basil and oregano and served with baby Jersey Royals, wilted spinach, and buttered brown shrimp. I have to say it looked divine, and from the empty plates of the other BritMums, it’s safe to say it was!
There are three Fish Inspirations flavour combinations – Sun blushed Tomato, Basil and Oregano, Juicy Lemon, Rosemary, Thyme and Thai Coconut with Lemongrass and Chilli. I bet the lemon, rosemary and thyme one is really tasty…that one is at the top of my shopping list!
We were also served dessert – I had a scrumptious chocolate mousse topped with cream and a blood orange slice. There was an equally scrumptious looking strawberry and passion fruit ice-cream combo served in the cutest kilner jar.
With lunch eaten, it was time to pay by picture…
