50 Things About Me

I often see these sorts of lists on the various blogs I read, in this case, it’s 50 Things About Me. There were a couple of questions about YouTube (which I changed to blogging instead, since I’m here more than there!) You usually have to be tagged in them, but sod it, I’m tagging myself!

1: What are you wearing?
Black leggings and a purple & black top.

2: Ever been in love?
Yes. Although, I’ve not known love the way I love my husband ♥

3: Ever had a terrible breakup?
The break up from my son’s dad was so awful at the time. It’s not an exaggeration to say I was distraught, and spent a good year or two getting over him. I’ve written about it before on my blog, if you want to read the “full story”.

4: How tall are you?
I got measured at the doctors once, he said I was 5′ 3½”, I laughed, there is no way I’m that, I always thought I was around 5’4″. Either measurement, I’m still quite short, and have the shortest legs at 25″. I tell everyone I have duck’s disease as my arse is too close to the ground.

5: How much do you weigh?
Too much, that’s for sure. If you’re a long time reader of my blog, you’ll know I’m on a perpetual weight loss journey

6: Any tattoos?
None. I’ve never felt compelled to get one done either. I do like them though, but I’m so indecisive that I would be scared about making the wrong decision and being marked for life with something I didn’t like!

7: Any piercings?
My ears, which I had done when I was 9 years old. I don’t really wear earrings any more as they irritate my ears too much.

8: OTP? (One True Pairing. Meaning your favourite combination of characters in a fandom.)
My favourite couple is Gomez and Morticia Addams, they’re so romantic and so in love! And they are both totally hot, so they really are my OTP!

9: Favourite show?
I have several favourite TV shows, but my most recent fave one is Blue Bloods, even though it’s been on the telly for a few years now, I’ve been catching up with the episodes from the 1st season. I love a good cop show, and this is a GREAT cop show! Plus, it has Donnie Wahlberg (my teenage crush) and Tom Selleck (swoon!) starring, so lots of eye candy! Other favourites include Red Dwarf, The Walking Dead, The Simpsons and any documentary narrated by Sir David Attenborough.

10: Favourite bands?
I’m going to have to go old skool with this, as there aren’t really any current bands that I can say are my favourites, apart from Bon Jovi who are still rocking! I love Savage Garden (and the solo artist Darren Hayes!) and still love New Kids On The Block – what can I say, I’m still a teenager at heart!

11: Something you miss? 
Some thing… hmmm… she’s not really a thing, but I miss my first cat, Holly. She was killed by a car, and we were all so devastated. Growing up we never had pets, and so, the loss of Holly hit me a lot harder than I thought losing an animal ever would. I still get upset talking about her, and she’s been gone for 5 years :(

12: Favourite song?
Oh, soooo many! I always say if I have to listen to one song for the rest of my life it would be Affirmation by Savage Garden.

13: How old are you?
38. And 18 months from being 40 *sobs*

14: Zodiac sign?
Virgo.

15: Quality you look for in a partner?
Sense of humour, honesty and loyalty.

16: Favourite Quote?
“If at first you don’t succeed,Try, try, try again.” This feels like the story of my life, as I always keep trying.

17: Favourite actor?
Johnny Depp. He’s such a great character actor, and I’ve loved pretty much everything he’s starred in, including when I first saw him back in the 90s on 21 Jump Street!

18: Favourite colour?
Purple. Duh!

19: Loud music or soft?
Always loud!

20: Where do you go when you’re sad?
I go into myself to be honest. I don’t have a physical place that I retreat to. Maybe I should find one, or go to my happy place…

21: How long does it take you to shower?
About 5 mins, a little longer if I’m washing my hair.

22: How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
It depends if I’m going out that day or not! I work from home, so there’s not always the need to worry about blow drying my hair or putting on make up! I don’t take that long to get ready though, I’m quite low maintenance like that!

23: Ever been in a physical fight?
Not really, but I’ve had to give a couple of people a slap in the past >_>

24: Turn on?
Laughter.

25: Turn off?
Liars.

26: The reason I started blogging?
I used to read a lot of blogs when I was planning my wedding, and eventually thought to myself “I want to do that too!” so I did!

27: Fears?
Cancer.

28: Last thing that made you cry?
My negative thoughts about myself.

29: Last time you said you loved someone?
To my husband and son on their way to work/school this morning.

30: Meaning behind your blog name?
I took two things I like – the colour purple and pumpkins and put them together to create The Purple Pumpkin Blog!

31: Last book you read?
The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2015

32: The book you’re currently reading?
Nothing at the moment, I should read more books, but end up reading other stuff (usually blogs) online.

33: Last show you watched?
Family Guy on DVD last night in bed.

34: Last person you talked to?
My husband, he’s not long left for work.

35: The relationship between you and the person you last texted?
My son.

36: Favourite food?
All Greek food!

37: Place you want to visit?
Oh, so many places…my wanderlust list is huge. I would love to road trip the USA one day and see all 50 states!

38: Last place you were?
The bathroom!

39: Do you have a crush?
Yes. I totally crush on several celebs, including Johnny Depp and Donnie Wahlberg!!

40: Last time you kissed someone?
Hubs on his way off to work.

41: Last time you were insulted?
I don’t go out much, so being insulted hasn’t happened for a long time. I often insult myself, in my head. I’m too negative on myself.

42: Favourite flavour of sweet?
Cherry or grape. I also luuuuuurve pear drops!

43: What instruments do you play??
I learned to play the violin when I was a kid, I could probably still play that if I had one. My brother in law started teaching me how to play guitar, but then I stopped practising >_< need to start again!

44: Favourite piece of jewellery?
My engagement and wedding rings – they’re pretty much the only jewellery I wear.

45: Last sport you played?
Does Zumba count?

46: Last song you sang?
Affirmation by Savage Garden – that I sung along to whilst writing this up!

47: Favourite chat up line?
I don’t have one… haven’t had to use those for decades :P

48: Have you ever used it?

49: Last time you hung out with anyone?
Apart from my husband and son, the last person I actually hung out with is my friend Sam. And that was several weeks ago now.
