August 23rd, 2014
…Continued from Part 3…

On the walk down from Fantasmic, we walked through the shops to get into the air-con, it’s amazing how hot it was, even this late at night! I asked at one of the counters about the event merchandise, and she commented how she couldn’t understand why they weren’t selling it in all the stores either. I mentioned how we hadn’t been able to buy anything because it had sold out by the time we got to the front of the line. Turns out, she had a couple of pins behind the desk, so we bought one. Huzzah!

By now, around 11:00pm, we were all feeling a bit peckish, so we went to buy some food. We had wanted to buy one of the special event hotdogs (which were only for sale at one place in the whole park!) but we heard that they had run out of the special buns, so didn’t bother to line up. We just picked up a burger, coke and cupcake each from Rosie’s All American Café and walked back to the table benches near the stage to have our dinner.

When it comes to the Deluxe Disney Dining Plan at a quick-service restaurant you are entitled to one entrée, one dessert and one non-alcoholic beverage for one credit per person. You do not have to pay a tip at a QS.

I can’t remember what specific burgers we all had, as I don’t seem to have a photo of the receipt. What can I say, other than they were burgers?!

The Maleficent cupcake was lush though! They were part of our meal on the DxDDP, but could also be bought for $5.19. They were a dark chocolate cake filled with a decadent blackberry filling topped with smooth blackberry buttercream.

During the evening there was entertainment on the stage with a band and a DJ. Liam went off to see if he could meet any of the Star Wars Villains

All around, you could hear people muttering about the length of the lines, and how things had run out, and I’m pretty sure we met a Dibber on this night too who came over to say hi as they had recognised us. If that was you, hello again!

By now, people were starting to take root for the fireworks display, Villainy in the Sky. Liam had finally come back from meeting the Storm Troopers, and he told us he did manage to get a photo with a couple of Storm Troopers . He said the line to meet Darth Vader and Darth Maul were way too long to bother with, and he wanted to be back with us for the fireworks.

From our complaint letter…

Finally, and I hope you will agree with this. The event was so oversubscribed that even attempting to line up for a photo with any of the Villians then became a fruitless task. Friends of ours queued for over 3 hours to see Maleficent. The show only ran between 8pm and 1am, which meant that on average, people were spending over half their time queuing just to have a photo with only one character. This in itself is absolutely ridiculous and common sense would surely have illustrated that there was a serious problem here.

After a couple of days we did get a response from Disney, who refunded the money that we paid for our tickets, although, we never did specifically ask for a refund. It was appreciated

At just before 1 in the morning, the fireworks began with an introduction from Maleficent. They were absolutely amazing, but despite their awesomeness, it could not make up for the lack of organisation, too many people, too long lines, and things running out. It was a night we were all looking forward to, but we felt let down, which is why my husband emailed to complain. We would have done it on the night, as I believe I said at the start of this report, but the line was so long (not a good sign) of others complaining, that we just went back to our resort.

I’m not going to end this day’s report on a bad note, so here are photos and a video of the fireworks, which, as I said were absolutely AMAZING. The music was great, the display seemed to go on forever and they were really loud! I even had to cover my ears on the final round of fireworks!
