August 20th, 2014 …Continued from Part 4…
The fire knife dance performer got the loudest cheers by far of the whole evening, and rightly so – he was brilliant! He encouraged the audience to clap and cheer and totally thrived on it – it made for a very spectacular performance all around. There isn’t much more to say in this final part of my day 7 Dine Around Disney 2014 Trip Report, so here are photographs and video of the Fire Knife Dance…this is what you call great balls of fire!!
After this spectacular fire knife dance, which really was the very, VERY best part of the whole Spirit of Aloha dinner show, the ensemble came back on stage. The show ended up with a rock ‘n’ roll number, Aloha ‘Oe and an encore of Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride.
I noticed a few people had got up and left by now – I think to go and watch Wishes which we could hear in the distance.
We paid for my monkey head cocktail (plus tax and tip) and everything else was on the dining plan. We caught the tail end of Wishes, but no photos I’m afraid, just this one of Space Mountain.
To summarise our Spirit of Aloha experience it would be that the food was fine – nothing special to write home about. We found the service very rushed, like they wanted to clear everything away as soon as possible which I didn’t like. With a long show to watch, it wasn’t nice to feel like you had to eat your dinner really quickly.
The first part of the show does feel like it drags on, but it’s light entertainment and you eventually get to the really great part with the traditional dancers, and of course, the fire knife dance – this section of the show was definitely worth the night out.
Would we do it again? Not sure… if we were on a dining plan and had credits to spare, probably yes, it’s not a bad show at all, and actually, just looking back at the videos I can see how fab some of it was! But I don’t think I would pay out for it, at nearly $200 for the three of us, it’s a dear do.
However, I have always said that I’m always up for trying everything we can whilst on a Walt Disney World holiday to formulate our own opinions about all the things you can do out there. I’m glad we went to the Spirit of Aloha dinner show and got our own experience of it, but be warned, if there is severe bad weather, the show can be cancelled!
