We were up bright and early today – not to go to a theme park (although, yes, we did go to Disney’s Hollywood Studios today!) but to go and pick up our hire car for the day! If you’ve been reading along, you’ll know that we had a nightmare day with the buses yesterday and brought our car hire forward.
We left Liam in the room in the bed, whilst we made our way (on a bus!) to Hospitality House for a hopper bus pick up by Disney Car Care. We took our refillable mugs with us to use for the first time, and to have a little wander whilst we waited for our ride.
Good’s Food To Go is where you can fill up your mugs with soft and hot drinks. We both got some coffee. You can also buy some food here – salads, sandwiches, burgers etc. There were quite a few things worth a snack credit, which I’ve only just noticed, as I didn’t pay much attention when we were there including: Conch Chowder, Bagel with Cream Cheese, Monster Energy Drinks and Mixed Fruit Cup. Having so much food on the Deluxe Disney Dining Plan means we bought more gift type snacks to bring home. Would definitely check out the snack options properly if we did a dining plan again!
With our morning cup of Joe, we sat at the bus stop to wait for the hopper and were soon on our way to Disney Car Care, which is not too far from Magic Kingdom.
With paperwork signed and keys collected I sat in our hire car (for the day, a new one is to be picked up tomorrow) and turned to Steve and let him know my relief at being able to have a car! I love driving as it is, and driving in the USA is so much more relaxing than over here! We had a Nissan Sentra, which was what they classed as a compact car (although, I thought it was quite spacious)
Back at Old Key West we turfed Liam out of bed for our breakfast reservation at Chef Mickey’s. Having learned our lesson from last year when we visited the Contemporary Resort, where we forgot to move over to the right and had to go allllll the way around to come back on ourselves, we got as far right as we could as we approached the Magic Kingdom toll gate. We were soon at the resort and parking the car (woohoo, car!)
We didn’t have to wait long for our buzzer to go off; we were waiting to get our photo taken with the Chef Mickey statue when it buzzed.
We sat in a different part of the restaurant this time and had an amazing view across Seven Seas Lagoon. I also love that the monorail goes through the resort – for some reason I am awestruck by it! Oh, and another thing I love about Chef Mickey’s is all the artwork on the walls!
We have been to Chef Mickey’s before and it can be LOUD, as you expect from character dining, but the interaction of the characters is great here, you get to meet Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Pluto – the big five! I think it’s the character dining choice if you like the classic Disney characters!
