Back in September I took myself off for a couple of walks in my favourite local park – Bedford’s Country Park. I was going to blog about it back then, but between one thing and another I didn’t post it. I’m trying to catch up with my posts before the Christmas craziness, so, to that end, here are some of the photographs that I took, capturing autumn – my favourite season! ♥ You’ll find lots more of my photos on my Flickr.

I love just walking around the park, often on my own, sometimes with hubs and the boy, taking in everythign around me. It always feels calm and tranquil when I walk around on my own, and I just wander, looking up, down and all around, for interesting things to take photographs of. My favourite thing at this time of year is fungi! And I’m always on the look out for different ones – but I look, and never touch!

I didn’t seem to find as many fungi this year, but whenever I see any, I get really excited – it’s like finding a prize in the undergrowth!

The park has been clearing some areas near the visitor centre, but haven’t wasted the wood – instead, they’ve turned it into sculptures which were a new sight to me when I paid my visit here back in September. Aren’t they just lovely to look at?

Leaves are still on the trees at this time of year – owing I guess to the exceptionally warm summer we have had. I must go back very soon and see how the forest and trees have changed.

Some leaves have of course started to fall, and I love looking down as I walk around looking for leaves and another autumn favourite of mine…conkers!

When my son was younger, I’d take him to Bedford’s to pick up conkers. On this day, it was just me on my own as he was at school, but it didn’t stop me from picking up these shiny brown treasures!

Another lovely autumn find are acorns…I have always loved the little cups that the nut sits in ^_^

Near the visitor centre is a sensory garden. It’s an area with lots of interesting plants and flowers and I spent half an hour walking through, looking and taking photos in this patch of the park. Flowers were still in bloom full of bright beautiful colours…

I can’t explain how much I love this park, maybe because it’s so close and I can get there in 5 minutes, maybe because I find it so calming and tranquil, where I can get lost with my thoughts and my camera, or maybe because no matter how many times I visit, there is always something new to take a photograph of with the changing of the seasons.

I hope, when I’m old, I’ll still be visiting Bedford’s Country Park, and maybe, just sit on a bench with my husband, watching the world go by…
