Welcome to Day 11 of Crafty October – a month of Halloween ideas at The Purple Pumpkin Blog! Don’t forget to check out last year’s ideas if you need more inspiration.

I’ve been working on another free printable today for some Halloween Treat Boxes. They’re a little like fast food chips/fries boxes in shape and would be ideal for putting sweets and treats in for a Halloween party!

They are easy to make and once you get into the swing of scoring the folds where you need to, you’ll be whizzing through making a batch of them for a party! What is great too, is that once you’ve folded and stuck them in place, they store flat and can be popped up when you need to use them.

I’m going to show you how to assemble them in this post, and share with you the printables I’ve designed so that you can print them off at home. I’ve also provided the template so that you can use plain or patterned cardstock to make the Halloween Treat Boxes, as I have done below using black and orange card.

I’m showing you how to make these boxes using plain card, which means I used temporary glue dots to hold the template in place whilst cutting and scoring. The patterned ones that I have also shared have the score marks on them so you don’t have to worry about using a score template.

Cut around the template carefully – some of the edges have a slight curve. Once cut, keep the template in place and you now need to score along the dashed lines. I used a paper embossing stylus that I have, but a blunt edge edge would work too – you don’t want to cut the card, just make marks so that you can fold everything later.

Follow the two curved lines carefully, try and do it in one swift motion, and make sure you press down hard enough to score through to the card. Then use a ruler to guide you as you score along all the straight lines.

With all the scoring done, carefully remove the template. Now it is time to do the folding of the scored lines. Start with the curved ones first – you fold inwards, carefully bending around the curve. Then fold the middle line between the curves. Finally, fold the three lines on each side of the treat box.

To assemble, fold over the two sides of the box at the middle score line, apply glue to the two tabs and then bring the back of the box up, folding in the middle score line (between the curves) and pressing into place.

When stuck together, push the base up into the box so it bends up into it, and pull the sides out slightly. It should look like a chip/fries box! The edges hang down so that the box can stand up.

Just to confuse things, after you have scored the lines on the pre-printed templates, flip it over to do the folding inwards and complete as above.

I will add a video tutorial of this to demonstrate how it is done – need my hubby home though so he can film it! For now, I hope that I’ve made myself understood – any questions, just leave me a comment below!

I’ve demonstrated three of my printables below, and also show how they can be kept flat until you need to use them (or store them for another year!) When printing these Halloween Treat Boxes, use card so that they hold up well. I’ll be using them to put sweets in for our Halloween party – what will you use yours for?!

Included in the Halloween Treat Boxes download (which is a PDF – use Adobe Reader to open it) are nine designs – you’ll recognise some of them from yesterdays Halloween Cupcake Toppers! In addition, I’ve also included a blank template so that you can use it to cut out and score plain or patterned cardstock.

As always, I hope you enjoy this free printable and are able to put it to good use for your Halloween celebrations!

Printables created by The Purple Pumpkin Blog are for personal use only and not for resale. If you wish to link to, pin or share my printables, you are welcome to do so as long as a link back to the blog post is shown and the watermarks are kept intact. Colours may vary slightly on printing due to different screen and printer settings. If you use any of my printables it would be awesome to know about it! Just leave me a comment, here on my blog, on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or Pinterest! I hope you find them useful!

I am hosting a month long Halloween Link Party to celebrate Crafty October and would love for you to share your Halloween ideas – crafts, recipes, costumes, parties…anything goes, as long as it is family friendly! It’s my favourite time of year, (as you may well know!) and I can’t wait to see what you link up!
