Baptism (Christening) Cake
Home » COOK » Recipes » Baking » Cakes »Since I’m the cake maker of the family, I was asked to make Sephy’s baptismal cake. My sister just gave me a spec of “white and pink” and I did the rest.
I baked an 8″ madeira cake which I filled with jam and buttercream before covering the cake (and board) with white sugarpaste. I also added a pink ribbon around the board edges to hide the silver colour of the board.
I used pink sugarpaste to make the letter blocks which I made about a week before to dry and harden, before piping on the letters of her name with royal icing.
I piped stars around the base of the cake, and cut sugarpaste crosses using a special cutter I bought. I then piped words on the top saying ‘On Your Baptism 6th April ’13’
All the guests were very impressed with the cake that I made, which always makes me so happy. As I make deep cakes, this fed around 50 people.
