As well as cooking dinner for hubby for our Mardi Gras Date Night, I also thought it would be fun to make some Mardi Gras masks – so we did!

I bought some blank masks from a local craft shop, they were a pound each – bargain! And I stocked up on embellishments in the Mardi Gras colours of purple, green and gold. I bought paint, glitter, sequins, feathers and glitter glue. And we just got to work creating our masks. No rules, just do what you want!

Hubby made this one by painting it all first then leaving it to dry before painting on with glitter paint to make it sparkle and then outlining the eyes and around the mask with glitter glue pens.

I made two masks – since hubs said I’m better at crafting than him! My first mask I painted with purple and green paints, left to dry before painting on with clear glitter paint. I drew a black line with a marker pen down the middle to give some definition and outlined the eyes with a gold glitter glue pen and the lips with a pink glitter glue pen.

I then added feathers and sequins to finish off my first mask.

I went with a harlequin design for my second mask using black marker to create the diamonds and then filling in the white spaces with glue and sprinkling on gold, green and purple glitter. I love how this one turned out!
