Rocky Horror Picture Show Cake
Home » COOK » Recipes » Baking » Cakes »I was asked to make a birthday cake and some cupcakes for a friend’s son’s 18th birthday. The theme of the party was musical theatre and so, I made a Rocky Horror Picture Show Cake….this is what I made…I love how it turned out!
It was a rectangular madeira cake filled with buttercream and jam, covered in black sugarpaste. The reason it looks shiny in the photos is due to the vodka spray I give my cakes to get rid of excess icing sugar!
I hand cut the letters and numbers using a Rocky Horror type font I found online as a guide.
The famous image of the red lips I made from red sugar paste and painting on black and white lines to give the lips texture. The teeth are white sugar past.
I wasn’t overly confident how this one was going to turn out – but I was so impressed with the way the lips looked! Really set the cake off!
I just loved the bold red and dark black of this cake, and I know it was a hit at the birthday party!
