It’s day 2 of Crafty October here at The Purple Pumpkin Blog!

Today I have been making Microfibre Monsters!

How fun are these little critters? So cheap and easy to make (if you shop in the right places of course!)

I spotted three different coloured microfibre sponges in the Poundshop, which when I saw them, immediately thought of turning them into monsters for Halloween. I also bought some ping-pong balls from eBay. In all, about a fiver was spent! I also pulled a black permanent marker from my craft box, as well as my hot glue gun and wire. This was definitely a bargain, as I’ve seen these cloths/sponges in regular shops for over £5 each!

So simple to make, and you could go wilder with them if you wanted, adding more features, but I just stuck with the googly eyes, since when I did add features I personally didn’t like the look of them.

I drew pupils onto the ping-pong balls to make eye balls and then stuck them in place with hot glue. The orange microfibre cloth was a hand-mitt, so it doubles up as a puppet :D

For the green monster, I stuck on three eyeballs…

And finally, for the blue monster, I pierced a hole in each ping-pong ball with a skewer (carefully!) and hot glued a length of wire into it. I then was able to push the wire down into the sponge to make springy eyeballs for this monster!

I think they’ve come out great! I can’t stop giggling at them, because I think they’re hilarious (I’m easily amused!)

These would be great for a Monster Mash party – I hope you have fun making them!
