Michelle Ordever at The Purple Pumpkin Blog

Hi! My name is Michelle and welcome to The Purple Pumpkin Blog! It’s great to have you here!

The main topics on my blog are: food & drink, party planning, travel, seasonal ideas, and lots of free printables!

Please jump right in and start reading my blog posts.

And in case you’re wondering… I LOVE the colour purple, I have an obsession with pumpkins – and that’s how the name of my blog was born!

Keep scrolling to find out more about me, my family and my blog – the page does need a bit of an update, so I will be doing that as soon as I can! Click the social media links below to follow me online.

About Me

I live in the UK with my husband and teenage son (1999). I’m a born and bred Londoner, born within the sound of the Bow Bells in East London back in the ’70s; making me a true Cockney and an age that I try not to think about too much these days! As the daughter of a publican, we moved around a fair bit as children (we being, mum, dad, 3 siblings and me!) – I’ve lived all over London and Essex.

Us at Magic Kingdom

As a family, we enjoy travelling (especially to Orlando and Walt Disney World, where we are Disney Vacation Club Members at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows), days out, weekends away, dining out, gaming, reading, music, going to concerts, and socialising with friends & family.

I also run a second Disney focused blog – Disney Tips & Trip Reports, where my newer Disney content is now hosted.

I am self employed and work from home as a Blogger; and I have the pleasure of working with a variety of brands and business on my blog. That means, in addition to my own content, you will also find collaborative content that I write, and advertorial content – both I am paid to do so. Please see my disclosure policy for full details of the types of content you’ll read on my blog. Unless otherwise stated, all words and photographs on The Purple Pumpkin Blog are my own.

Prior to becoming a full time blogger, I ran my website design business, New Moon Web Designs for 10 years.

About The Purple Pumpkin Blog

I started this blog back in November 2011 as a place for me to write about parties that I threw for my friends and family – starting with my favourite holiday of all – Halloween!

Over the years it has evolved into a creative lifestyle blog. It gives me the opportunity to be creative, share my ideas, and inspire others to try them at home. I call my blog a creative lifestyle blog, because it seems to fit with everything I do. I am a creative person, and I think that shows throughout my blog. I cover many topics on my blog including: Food & Drink; Free Printables; Seasonal Crafts; Parties & Celebrations; Travel; Lifestyle; and Home & Garden.

Every blog needs a tag line, and mine is:
as it covers pretty much everything I do on my blog!

The Purple Pumpkin Blog was a finalist in the UK Blog Awards 2015 and 2014 in the Lifestyle Category. It was also shortlisted for a BiB Brilliance in Blogging Lifestyle Award 2013.

I love to cook and have been cooking for as long as I can remember. I grew up in the catering industry, with my parents managing restaurants, so it’s in my blood! I am part Greek-Cypriot, part Lithuanian, so have a diverse background in different culinary styles and am grateful for the knowledge that has been passed down from my grandmothers!

I have shared over 500 recipes on my blog and you can find them all in my Recipe Index.

There are recipes for meal prepping, international cuisines, dietary requirements, seasonal events, and party food & cakes. From savoury to sweet, from spring through to winter, there are lots of delicious recipes to choose from and try out at home.

As well recipes, I’ve also shared Food & Drink Reviews of products I’ve been sent to try out, or restaurants we visited. I’ve also been invited to Food Events over the years, and have written about them too.

Over the years I’ve created a variety of free printables – for parties; for the home; to help you stay organised; for travel; for parties; (and more!) You’ll find all of my FREE PRINTABLES here.

I share lots of ideas for seasonal events – Halloween; Christmas; Easter; Mardi Gras; St. Patrick’s Day; Summertime; (and more!) over the years. You’ll find all of my SEASONAL posts here.

I mainly share seasonal crafts – Fall; Christmas; Halloween; (and more!) I also share Disney themed crafts, and crafts for party decorations. You’ll find all of my CRAFTS here.

I write about home & garden topics from time to time. We are in the process of redecorating and rennovating. You’ll find all of my HOME & GARDEN posts here.

Photography has been a passion of mine for many years now. Deciding to improve my skills, I embarked on my first year of Project 365 in 2011 – taking a photo a day – and I haven’t looked back. I’ve seen my photos improve and change over the years, and I’m proud of how far I have come. But it never stops – I am always seeking to improve my photography skills!

I like to share things along the way too, and I’ve written several posts about photography, as well as two years worth of ideas & tips for Project 365.

You’ll find all of my PHOTOGRAPHY here.

Life is for celebrating and creating memories with family and friends. To preserve them, I write about those memories here on my blog. I write about the parties I plan, the travelling we do, and the lifestyle we live. I also run a second Disney focused blog – Disney Tips & Trip Reports, where my Disney Trip Reports are now hosted.

I have a passion for planning parties… From our wedding in 2009 for 150 guests to a birthday party for my son to a barbecue with my siblings and their partners (there are 4 of us and we are very close!). It doesn’t matter how big or how small the event, I’ll plan it and theme it and make it as memorable as I can! My family and friends know that if there is an excuse to celebrate or have a get-together you can count on me to plan something or have a party ready at a moments notice!
