Hi! My name is Michelle and welcome to The Purple Pumpkin Blog!
It’s great to have you here!
The main topics on my blog are: seasonal, crafts, food & drink, lifestyle, celebrations, and travel.
Please jump right in and start reading my blog posts.
And in case you’re wondering… I LOVE the colour purple, I have an obsession with pumpkins – and that’s how the name of my blog was born!
Keep scrolling to find out more about me, my family and my blog – the page does need a bit of an update, so I will be doing that as soon as I can! Click the social media links below to follow me online.
I live in the UK with my husband and teenage son (1999). I’m a born and bred Londoner, born within the sound of the Bow Bells in East London back in the ’70s, making me a true Cockney and an age that I try not to think about too much these days! As the daughter of a publican, we moved around a fair bit as children (we being, mum, dad, 3 siblings and me!) – I’ve lived all over London and Essex!
As a family, we enjoy travelling (especially to Orlando!), days out, weekends away, dining out, gaming, reading, music, going to concerts, socialising with friends & family, and lots more!
I work from home as a website designer and blogger. As a blogger I work with brands and businesses, and it means, that in addition to my own content, you may find collaborative content that I write and am paid to do so. Please see my disclosure policy for full details of the types of content you’ll read on my blog. Unless otherwise stated, all words and photographs on The Purple Pumpkin Blog are my own.
ABOUT MY BLOG
I started this blog back in November 2011 as a place for me to blog about parties that I threw for my friends and family – starting with my favourite holiday of all – Halloween!
The Purple Pumpkin Blog was a finalist in the UK Blog Awards 2015 and 2014 in the Lifestyle Category. It was also shortlisted for a BiB Brilliance in Blogging Lifestyle Award 2013.
I am happy to work with brands, through writing articles, reviews, giveaways and more. Some of the brands that I have written for include: Homebase, TSB, BRITA, Schwartz, Asda and Hobbycraft.
I am currently a Cricut Explore Super Blogger, a Panasonic (cameras) Brit Blogger, and a #ShortcutEggsperts Blogger for British Lion Eggs.
If you are a brand, business, media or PR agency, please do feel free to visit my work with me page to send me a message, request my media + rates pack and to open up discussion to work together. I am also looking for blog sponsorship which you can read more about here. All paid work is disclosed. Please view my disclosure policy here.
LIFE · CREATIVITY · HOME · TRAVEL · FOOD · PHOTOGRAPHY
We love to travel, be it a family day out, a weekend away, or a far flung destination. By far our favourite place in the world is Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. You can read all of our Disney Trip Reports, as well as tips and info about Orlando here.
I love to cook and have been cooking for as long as I can remember. I grew up in the catering industry, with my parents managing restaurants, so it’s in my blood! I am part Greek-Cypriot, part Lithuanian, so have a diverse background in different culinary styles and am grateful for the knowledge that has been passed down from my grandmothers!
I have kept an index of all the recipes I’ve shared on my blog and you can find them in my Recipe Index.
I also write about food events and the restaurants we visit. All of my food + drink posts can be found here.
You will never find me without my camera close to hand. I capture all the memories that I can with my lens! I am into my 5th year of Project 365 my daily photography project, which I share on my blog alongside ideas and tips.
I love to take photographs, and always have done, but over the last couple of years I have honed my skills with a daily photography project. I started (and finished) Project 365 in 2011, by taking a photo a day. I completed Project 366:2012 (the extra day as it’s a leap year), then carried on for Project 365:2013 and Project 365:2014
We love to travel – maybe not doing it as often as we like to, but when we do, we do it in style! We work and save hard to afford the holidays and days out that we have, and since starting my blog I’ve shared those moments with you…as they happen. I share older moments through my Flashback Fridays Series – the big one being our Orlando, Florida holiday!
Life is about creating memories with family and friends. To preserve them, I write about those memories here on my blog. I write about the parties I plan, our home and garden, the travelling we do including days out, Walt Disney World holidays and road trips, plus everything else in between!
I have a passion for planning parties… From our wedding in 2009 for 150 guests to a birthday party for my son to a barbecue with my siblings and their partners (there are 4 of us and we are very close!). It doesn’t matter how big or how small the event, I’ll plan it and theme it and make it as memorable as I can!
I blog about each party I throw – sharing all the details, recipes and photographs…and of course, I’ve kept them all in one place in my Party Index.
My family and friends know that if there is an excuse to celebrate or have a get-together you can count on me to plan something or have a party ready at a moments notice! I’ll never forget one afternoon a few summers ago, my siblings gave me a call and asked if I fancied having a barbecue. I said “sure, where?” and they said “your house!”…so it was a dash to the supermarket for food, drinks and supplies and everything was prepared and laid out waiting for everyone to arrive, at which point, they all walked in and said “told you!”. They all (2 sisters and a brother) knew full well I’d go all out and have everything looking great.
My favourite holiday is Halloween, which hasn’t always been a popular time to celebrate in the UK, but has gained popularity over the years. If I didn’t throw a party any other time of the year, at Halloween I always would! Check out my annual Halloween series – Crafty October, here.
I have always been into arts and crafts. Over the years I’ve turned my hand to sewing, knitting, crochet, scrapbooking card making, handmade gifts…and more! I tend to craft seasonally, especially for Halloween and Christmas. I share photo & video tutorials. Whenever I craft something, I share it here on my blog and in my Craft Index.
