What We’ll Be Driving

It’s been ages since I updated our Pre-Trip Report 2015 – Halloween In The Wilderness… I better get a wriggle on with this as there is just over 3 months till we get on a plane to Orlando, and I’ve got lots of planning still to do!

This part of my pre-trip report is about the car we’re hiring! I shared 20 Tips For Brits Driving In Orlando a few days ago, which, if you are worried about driving on your holiday to Florida, will help you out.

This is our fourth holiday to Florida, and the fourth time hiring a car. I’m the one who does the majority of the driving, because I LOVE driving, and am also quite a nervous passenger, so Steve leaves it to me. Plus, he is a much better navigator than me, not that we need to worry as much now, as we are able to get around without too much help from a map or satnav.

This year, we have got car hire included with our flights. So, working out how much the car hire has actually cost us is a bit difficult. We selected Group E – Ford Fusion or similar, when choosing our car type, which is described as a large car. I like driving a big car, and all of our previous hires have been in this group. Our flights cost £2039, and car hire is around £360 for 16 days, for this size car when I’ve looked on the Avis website (the company BA have used for our car hire), so I think we’ve bagged a bargain here!

In the past I’ve driven the following cars out in Orlando: Cheverolet Impala, Chevrolet Malibu, Chevrolet HHR, Toyota Camry, Nissan Sentra. The reason for so many cars over 3 trips? Well, the first time, Virgin messed up our booking so we had a different car after the first week of our holiday. And on our last trip in 2014, we didn’t get on with the Disney buses, and so had to hire a car for a day, before picking up our already hired car (I know that doesn’t make much sense, but if you read through my Dine Around Disney 2014 trip report it will!)

And finally, here are photos of all the cars we’ve hired and driven in Orlando – I can’t wait to be out there driving again!
