Day 4 – Let It Go [Dine Around Disney 2014] (Part 4)

We then went on Star Tours – another favourite of ours, and a must do. I fit fine in the seat (although a bit snug, any bigger and you would struggle to be comfortable) and the seatbelt was long enough too. As always, a fun ride, and just a shame we didn’t do it more than the once on this trip. Too many combinations of reasons, which I explained in my initial highs and lows report.
By now it was nearing our time for the Frozen Singalong, so we headed in that direction. Oh, and we also quickly popped into Wandering Oaken’s – yoo hoo! A lot of Frozen merch in here, but we didn’t buy anything.
We found where the line started, joined it and waited. It was extremely hot now, and whilst there were some umbrellas over the queue, typically, we were in the bit of the line where there was no shade. It was a scorcher, and I did have to send Liam over to sit under a tree for some shade. It’s the one thing that does annoy me about outside lines at Orlando theme parks (not just Disney) is the lack of shade for people standing and waiting. It’s not pleasant at all!
A lot of people in the line were getting quite antsy because of the heat, but eventually the doors opened, and the cold air conditioning was a welcome relief. We were guided to some seats and waited for the show to start.
Now, if you don’t like Frozen, then you’re going to want to scroll by very quickly, as there are a lot of photos of the show coming up!
The film is essentially speed-narrated by two citizens of Arendelle, and at the musical interludes, the movie comes up on the screen with the lyrics at the bottom and a bouncing snowflake to guide you – not that any one needed lyrics! The only people you saw on stage for the majority of the show were the narrators, with the rest of the cast making an appearance towards the end (which I think was a shame)
The audience loved it – the music was loud so you didn’t have to hear yourself and others singing out of tune bwahahahah, and it was a really fun experience. I do hope that they keep this at DHS as I think it is a nice addition to the park.
I do think it is a shame, that, as yet, there is no ‘real life’ Olaf, just him on the screen. I’m sure Disney costuming could make something?! I was gutted that they didn’t sing “Fixer Upper”, not sure why it was left out – it’s a fun song!
The narrators were brilliant, very funny and engaging too. The biggest cheers were reserved for Elsa though, the noise when she came on the stage was LOUD!
“Let It Go” was reprised with Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and the narrators, and it was fab when it started “snowing”, a really great finale.
By late afternoon the heat was getting to us, and so we decided to just call it a day. Walking back through Pixar Place, we saw another Green Army Man, more photos, and he pinched my fan – the heat wasn’t just getting to guests!
On the way out, we bought a souvenir Olaf [plastic] glass, which isn’t on the dining plan, and caught the tram back to the car – huzzah. Drove home where Liam went into the pool, and we chilled out before dinner that evening.
