We did a little wandering about, before the black clouds started to roll in. We had thought about getting the boat back to Old Key West, but once the rain comes, they stop the service in case of lightning storms, so we just went to go and wait for a bus. And wait we did…it was not a good day for Disney buses!
A bus for every other resort seemed to turn up other than Old Key West, by now it was absolutely chucking it down, and all I wanted to do was get back to our room, dry off and do nothing. We’d probably spent 3 hours travelling about on buses and I was at the end of my last nerve!
The rain did ease off a little bit, and Liam was still pestering to go in the pool. Not knowing the rules about pool use in the rain at a Disney resort, I called up Hospitality House, and they said it was fine. So I sent him off on the short walk to the pool – one of the benefits of having a teenager, I don’t have to be there for every moment! Steve went with him a short while after to check out the pool area.
When Steve returned, leaving Liam quite happily chilling out in the swimming pool, he phoned up Alamo to see if we could bring forward our pick up date for our car hire. Today was a Saturday, and we were not due to pick it up until Monday at Disney Car Care. I even gave him looks to picking one up NOW! After talking with them, they told us it would be £90to add an extra day – a big no way, since we only paid around £180 for our full car hire! So, whilst speaking to the same clerk, he asked about hiring a car for one day. Which ended up being £36.23, so that’s exactly what we did! You cannot understand my joy at getting a car!
To celebrate, we decided to get a cab to Disney’s Boardwalk earlier than planned to have a bit of a look around before our dinner reservation at Kouzzina by Cat Cora.
We haven’t been to the Boardwalk before, and so pleased we did – it’s just lovely! The views across the water are gorgeous, and it’s a fab place to just sit and soak in the atmosphere.
We popped into the Boardwalk Bakery, to have a nose, as well as into the nearby Seashore Sweets, before going to check in at Kouzzina. We had to wait around 20 minutes for our table, but with a lovely setting to wait in and watch the world go by, we were fine with that!
