Halloween Shopping + Sonny’s Real Pit BBQ + Florida Mall
August 29th, 2013

A rather short day, trip writing wise, as it was a day of shopping and BBQ food!

We started off the morning larking about in the villa pool! There was a sky writer flying a plane above us, writing words and drawing smiley faces ^_^

We have a waterproof camera so take photos in the pool – often with funny results…

After a relaxing morning in the pool, we got ready to go out for lunch and decided to return to Sonny’s Real Pit BBQ, this time going to the one in Haines City rather than Clermont which we visited last time around.

I also wanted to go to Michael’s, the craft store, which was in that direction, so it made sense to stay in the same sort of area.

If you want some good value American barbecue, Sonny’s, in our experience is a great place to visit. Our total bill came to $45.94. We all got various combos with sides, a drink each (refillable and the waitress even refilled just as we paid our bill and put them in take away cups!) as well as a side salad from the salad bar.

Really, the drinks are HUGE!

After paying our bill, we drove to Posner Park where Michaels is, along with several other stores including JC Pennys, Staples and a Dollar Store. My eyes though were focused on the Halloween goodies on offer in Michaels, and I won’t tell you how much I spent in there as my husband may keel over in shock when he reads this trip report ^_^

Of course, if you read my previous trippie, you’ll know all about my love for Halloween, and if I could have brought my stuffs back, I totally would have done! Here is a selection of the awesome decorations that were on sale this year.

And from my blog – some of the things I bought! The Boo sign I made in 2012, the zombie sticker we bought in the UK, and the 3 Mickey hats are from Downtown Disney. I love how the stuff all compliments the style of the Halloween decorations I bought on our first trip in 2011!

With my Halloween haul out of the way, it was then time to hunt for some Vans and some Converse for friends and family back at home, so we drove to JC Pennys to have a look. The selection was small and boring, so we decided to drive to Florida Mall to the larger store there, as well as have a look at all the other shops! We didn’t do a mall on our first visit, so this was something new for us!

We wandered round JC Pennys for a while – Martha Stewart had a section of party wares, but back up Martha, yo’ stuff be expensive! Although I did buy some tiny plastic scoops that I used at my Halloween party ^_^ Couldn’t resist those!

I also totally wanted the margarita machine, popcorn machine and cotton candy machine…but Steve said we didn’t have the room in our cases… *pouts*

JC Penny didn’t turn up the Vans we wanted, but they did have some cute Converse, so I bought some for my friend’s little girl, and we went out into the mall to find somewhere else to buy them.

There is a huge food court at the Florida Mall, but having had lunch we didn’t need to stop for anything, and I can see why people love shopping here as there are tons of great shops. I was on my mission though to get these Vans for my sister, and eventually hunted a pair down in the Vans store which was right at the other end of the Mall to where we came in! I also saw the cutest of cute pairs of Hello Kitty baby Vans, but at $40, nearly the same as an adult pair, I wasn’t going to waste my money on them for my niece as she’d grow out of them so quickly!

With shopping, we drove back to the villa with another beautiful sunset welcoming the end of the day. I can’t wait to be back and see the beautiful Florida skies again!
