IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth
August 20th, 2013

Concluding my trip report for Day 7 – I Can Show You The World it’s time for me to share our experience of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth.

IllumiNations is Epcot’s nightly fireworks show and they are AMAZING. I’ve heard people comparing this show to Wishes, which are also wonderful, but it’s like comparing apples and oranges – they’re both so different.

Being in a crowd for this showing of the fireworks, I could just feel the anticipation in the air – last time, as I have mentioned before, we were the only people standing in our area due to the rain driving people away that night!

With the beacons all aflame, suddenly a voice is boomed around the showcase letting you know that he is about to share the light and share a story. You hear a blow of wind as the lights go down and the sound of drums start to fill the air. Suddenly the fireworks explode and the spectacular has begun!

There are fireworks, flames, lasers…it’s truly a sight for the eyes and ears! All accompanied by a moving soundtrack – I find myself just getting lost when watching IllumiNations!

This was the first time I had used my new camera to take photos of fireworks, and since I hadn’t worked out the settings on it, these pics are a bit hit and miss, but I hope you can see how wonderful the fireworks are – next time I’ll know what I am doing with the camera lol! I wasn’t able to get a photo of the giant globe that floats out onto the water – although from where Liam and I were standing, we couldn’t really see it well…next time, I’m staking out a spot early for IllumiNations!

When the last fireworks blasting into the sky to huge cheers and applause, the crowd then quickly starts to disperse as Epcot bids us goodnight and a safe journey home.

We walked to International Gateway and was able to jump onto one of the Friendship Boats to take us back to the Beach Club Resort. By now we were so tired and too lazy to do any more walking! Luckily we were able to get a seat on the boat – bad move though, after a day on your feet, sitting down is the worst thing you can do if you have to then get up again to walk to get your car!

We docked at the pier and marvelled at how wonderful Disney Boardwalk looked all lit up. We must pay a visit over there on our next trip!

We walked back through the Beach Club, past Beaches & Cream which was packed, and to the valet parking desk to pay the $15 and get our car back.

We had a really great day at Epcot World Showcase – I know some people don’t like this park, but we as a family LOVE it and can’t wait to go back again!
