This past week I’ve been sharing mementos from our wedding day (back in August 2009) and now I’ll show you where all of those precious memories live…

…in our Wedding Day Memory Jar ♥ The jar’s original purpose was for our guests to write their well wishes on cards and notepaper that we left out for them – in lieu of a traditional guest book. I knew after our wedding it would be a great place to keep all of our bits and bobs from our wedding day safely for years to come.

Here is what we keep in our memory jar…some of our wedding stationery and our vows. I designed and made all our stationery and love how it looks, even [nearly] 4 years on. There is our wedding day programme, an evening invitation (our day invite is too big for the jar!), mine and hubby’s escort cards (even though we knew we were on the top table :P and finally the vows we both wrote and printed to read at the ceremony.

This cute little heart shaped clutch bag held my bits and bobs during the day – lippy, perfume, tissues etc and my mum gave me this lucky horseshoe to hold as well.

This dried flower was one of the roses from my bouquet.

I made the bonboniere favours with five almonds and tulle. They are so pretty!

I made a few satin ribbon roses to embellish various elements of the day – baskets in the bathroom, that sort of thing. One of those went in the jar.

We provided natural confetti in the form of purple and white dried flower petals. We had some left over…it lives inside a white netted bag in our wedding day memory jar.

This was the purple and white sugarpaste heart topper that was on our wedding cake.

These stacked boxes served as both place settings and wedding favours for each guest. This is my one!

Several bottles of bubbly were popped at our wedding breakfast, and we kept one of the corks. The purple ribbon was tied around the bottles!

Quite often with mementos, we stash them away in a box, hidden in a cupboard, and it seems such a shame. You could make a memory jar for any occasion in your life and have them sat on a shelf in your living room or hallway – encouraging you to look through them from time to time and remember the day you had ♥
