Teeny Tiny Cupcakes {Pink Flavoured Baby Shower}

Thursday, 30 August 2012

I bought some of those paper cups that you put ketchup in at a fast food place - you know the type...well, instead of using them for sauce, I used them to make some Teeny Tiny Cupcakes for my sister's Pink Flavoured Baby Shower!

Normally, yes, I'd make own cupcake batter, but I was really pressed for time, and so, resorted to a box of cake mix instead...made it up according to the instructions and placed a teaspoon or two inside each case. Don't overfill as mine overflowed during cooking :P

I then piped on some pink frosting and topped with Little Miss Tiny and Mr Small jelly sweets. Oh, and food glitter got sprinkled over - all cupcakes, especially pink ones need glitter!

Pink Flavoured Lemonade {Pink Flavoured Baby Shower}

Can't have a Pink Flavoured Baby Shower without lots of pink foods and drink!  One of the drinks I served at this party was Pink Flavoured Lemonade...it was just bottles of fizzy pink lemonade that I decanted into my drinks dispenser, adding ice, sliced strawberries and lemons...but it looked so pretty, and the fruit added extra flavour to the store bought drink :)

Pink Encrusted Marshmallow Pops {Pink Flavoured Baby Shower}

I love cake pops, they're so cute! But I find them quite frustrating to make! I can never get them looking as nice as I plan to in my head and so, instead, resort to marshmallow pops. They are super easy to make, super tasty and these Pink Encrusted Marshmallow Pops went down well at the Pink Flavoured Baby Shower that I hosted recently.

To make them, you will need a bag of marshmallows, candy melts (or white chocolate), sprinkles of your choice - I used sugar crystal sprinkles, and lollipop sticks. I also decorated each stick with a ribbon tied into a bow.

Melt the candy melts or chocolate in a microwave, according to package instructions - I tend to do 30 second bursts.  Then, skewer a marshmallow with a lollipop stick and dunk it into the melted candy. Tap off any excess.

Having poured your sprinkles onto a plate, place the candy covered marshmallow onto the pile and roll around, covering all the melted candy.

Leave to dry on baking paper (doesn't take long!) and then present however you wish. I made mine this way so that they could stand up marshmallow side. You could also cover a box and poke in holes to stand them up the other way.

Very cute, and the sprinkles give a nice crunch to the soft marshmallow!

'Ready To Pop' Popcorn Cups {Pink Flavoured Baby Shower}

Another fun idea I saw on Pinterest were boxes of popcorn with "Ready to Pop" printed on them. Very cute, and quite fitting, as by now I know my sister is ready to pop lol!

I already bought a bunch of pink paper cups for drinks at the Pink Flavoured Baby Shower I hosted for my sis and bro-in-law, and to save faffing around trying to find pink boxes (or make them!) I simply designed a label and stuck it to the front of each cup.

I bought some pink coloured popcorn from the market and filled each cup with this delicious snack! I lined them up ready for guests to eat at the party, or take home for later :)

Snickety-Snacks {Pink Flavoured Baby Shower}

My pregnant sister is a funny girl, and often says that it's time for snickety-snacks, so for her Pink Flavoured Baby Shower I made some Folded Nappy Napkin Snack Holders which I used to hold chocolate chip cookies, as well as a variety of snickety-snacks, in the form of crisps and peanut puffs!

I thought the peanut puffs would be fun, since I remembered that episode of FRIENDS where Rachel and Ross go to see the sonographer whilst she is pregnant and she describes what she sees as a peanut!

Strawberry Milk & Chocolate Chip Cookies {Pink Flavoured Baby Shower}

I hosted a Pink Flavoured Baby Shower for my sister and brother-in-law last week and decorated some Mini Milk Bottles as well as making some Folded Nappy Napkin Snack Holders. I got as much pink into the food as I could, so into the bottles went strawberry milk, and what goes better with milk than cookies?!

Mini Milk Bottles {Pink Flavoured Baby Shower}

In addition to having Decorated Drinks {Baby} Bottles for the recent Pink Flavoured Baby Shower I hosted for my sister and brother-in-law, I also pulled out of storage, my mini milk bottles which I've used on a couple of occasions :)

I simply tied some pink ribbon around the neck of each bottle, plopped in a straw and filled with strawberry milk :)

Folded Nappy Napkin Snack Holders {Pink Flavoured Baby Shower}

I saw this cute idea on Pinterest using paper napkins/serviettes and folding them up to look like nappies/diapers. I decided to make them for the Pink Flavoured Baby Shower that I hosted for my sister and brother-in-law.  They were super easy to make and looked really effective!

All you need to do is take a paper napkin/serviette in your colour choice and fold it in half to make a triangle. Bring a corner up to the middle, fold the two sides to the centre and secure with a safety pin! Easy!

You can then fill them with any (dry) snacks that you like! I placed chocolate chip cookies and crisps into mine :)

Decorated Drinks [Baby] Bottles {Pink Flavoured Baby Shower}

Remember I gave a little sneak peek into my sister and brother-in-law's Pink Flavoured Baby Shower a little while ago and showed you some darling, retro, pink and white paper straws? Well, now I can finally share with you how I used them!

I put together these very cute decorated drinks bottles...made using doilies, muslin and baby bottles! And the straws went inside :D

I bought some baby bottles from the supermarket and sat pondering how to decorate them for the baby shower...then remembered that I had some leftover pink muslin from when I made the Nappy Babies for my gift basket for the parents-to-be!  I also found some paper doilies in my stash and my idea was born!

First off, I removed the teats as I wouldn't be needing those. I then cut the muslin into 2" wide strips, and folded the doilies in half.  I wrapped the doilies around each bottle, and secured in place with some double-sided tape.

Next, I tied the muslin around each bottle into a bow....I tied them all first and then cut the excess down to a more reasonable size!

I popped the lids back on until party time, and then placed a straw into each one...I think that they looked so cute!

Unfortunately, not quite enough baby bottles to go around, so I also bought some pink paper cups which had  the stripy straws placed inside.

They all sat next to my drinks dispenser full of Pink Flavoured Lemonade and the bottles were well admired and thought to be a very cute idea :)  Even better, was we went all Starbucks and wrote our names on the doilies and cups so we knew whose drinks container was whose!
