Sunday Inspiration - A Sporting Event Party

The 2012 Olympic Games starts in my hometown of London on 27th July!  Quite an event, and only hope that the lovely British weather doesn't spoil it!

I love the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games, and as such, plan on having my family over to watch it, since it is a momentous occasion to have the games hosted in our hometown.

Today's Sunday Inspiration will be about sporting event parties!  So sit back, scroll through and see what grabs you to create your own Sporting Event Party!

I will start with a great Olympics Party I found whilst visiting Blogland at Hostesss with the Mostess.  Some really simple and effective ideas!

I had already thought to make the Olympic Rings, using styrofoam rings, and then painting them.  I used one in my Easter Chick Wreath and they were inexpensive and easy to paint.

Easy bunting from Craftaholics Anonymous...would be great in the Olympic colours of blue, black, red, yellow and green.

From A to Zebra Celebrations a cute way to have a glass, cutlery and napkin all in one - again, use Olympics colours.  The picture is from my Pinterest Party Board as I may have re-pinned and it was to the main homepage of the blog, rather than the specific post.

Another re-pin from my Pinterest Board - an old one where I didn't trace back unfortunately.  It's a novel way to serve veggies and dip!

From Kara's Party Ideas, a football (soccer) themed party - cookies decorated to look like footballs - you could make various different sports balls - tennis, basketball, American football, golf etc.

And ditto with the cake pops!

And whaddyaknow, a quick Google and I find sports ball cake pops from Baker's Cakes Blog

Lots of ideas to get the creative juices flowing!  I've had a few in mind for a few weeks now, and for food I know I'm going down the route of Greek...a) because I'm Greek-Cypriot and know that I can cook this food well, and b) because the Olympics originated in Ancient Greece and it seemed like the perfect fit.

I'll bring it into the modern era by using the Olympic colours of blue, black, red, yellow and green on the desserts and decor...stay reading for our London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony Party on 27th June 2012 :)
