We had several attendants who helped make our wedding day go smoothly. They included four bridesmaids, a flowergirl, a pageboy, two best men and an usher!

My bridesmaids were my sisters, one of which was my chief bridesmaid; my best friend and my cousin. My son was my pageboy and my best friend’s daughter was my flowergirl. Don’t they all look lovely?

My Bridesmaids L-R: My Sister, My Best Friend, My Cousin, My Sister & Chief Bridesmaid

My husband chose two best men – two of his close friends; and my brother was our usher.

After searching high and low for bridesmaids dresses, none which I really liked, my mum suggested to look through her catalogue to see if I could find some…and bingo…I did! As soon as I saw them I fell in LOVE – the style and colour were just perfect. I ordered five, one each for the girls, and one for me too, to wear one day! At £65 each, they were a bargain compared to the cost of ‘proper’ bridesmaids dresses from a bridal store.

My bridesmaids each carried an over the arm bouquet of white roses, and I bought them each a fascinator to wear in their hair. They too were a bargain at £7, when I saw others as much as £40 each!

For jewellery, I bought them each a pretty necklace and matching bracelet from my Avon brochure (I’m an Avon Rep), and I also gave them a little black clutch bag (also from Avon). Their shoes came from a catalogue, which at the time were 3 for the price of 2 – another bargain! I ended up buying a pair for myself too :D

I gave each of my bridesmaids a gift bag on the morning of the wedding, with bits and bobs to make themselves up with, and enjoy their over-night stay at the venue.

The gift bag included a mini bottle of wine, a shower gel and wash scrunchie, a fan to cool off with, their fascinator, some bath bombs, a bottle of perfume, make up, mirror and brushes, mints, clutch bag, jewellery and their thank you card. I placed everything inside cupcake covered gift bags :)

My pageboy was my son, who looked just precious in his morning suit! He looks so young (I mean, I know he was) but looking at this photo ten years on, with a 20 year old adult son instead of this little boy, gives me all the tears!

He carried our rings tied to a ring pillow – what a very important job for my little man!

I found the prettiest little dress for my flowergirl online, and bought it immediately! My best friend and her daughter live 200 miles away from us, so I had to order it, send it up to her to try on *fingers crossed it fitted* and then have it sent back…what a performance, but it was all A-OK. I bought her the matching headband, and also found a sweet little bag to hold, as well as a purple fairy wand. She looked just darling!

The male attendants all wore morning suits, hired from a local shop. They were really accommodating, and the guy who runs the shop was great to deal with. We went for several suit fittings with all our male attendants, and of course the father of the bride – my dear dad – and my father-in-law-to-be.

They all wore matching purple cravats and lilac waistcoats. The jackets were the tail type. However, we originally were going to have box type jackets, which I changed my mind about part way through. I’m so glad I did, because the tails look much more elegant. There was a little mix up, and one of hubby’s best men ended up with the box type jacket. It was because he picked up his suit separate from the rest of the guys, but oh well, didn’t spoil the day or anything!

My Brother – Our Usher

I loved how all the attendants looked together, and I kinda wish I had a photograph with all of them in the same photo…ah, hindsight, there you are!

As a thank you for all their hard work leading up to and including the wedding day, they each received a gift from us during the speeches.
